The good things first. |The room size was decent and it had all the required facilities - a/c, fan, attached bathroom with an instant geyser etc. There was a small pool which one could use for dips.||What needs to drastically improve:||1) For one, it is not a resort. This is a misnomer. They should call it for what it is - a homestay.|2) Location - it is in the middle of nowhere and there are no transport facilities it provides to guests, at least to reach the main road (which is also quite far from the facility) and/or the city. With such a remote location, this is a must-have service. Or they should clearly mention that one needs to have their own vehicle before coming here.|3) There is no local eating facility, even if not a full-fledged restaurant. There could have been a local cook who can make and serve dishes from local cuisine, on demand. They have a tie-up with some restaurant (Panchratna or something similar) from whom u can order food u like. But it takes a very long time to deliver, and not surprising, considering the location. Or one has the choice of ordering anything on Zomato/Swiggy.|4) Service - this is practically non-existent. For one, there is a caretaker couple living in the premises who can't speak anything other than Kannada. So people not familiar with this language are going to suffer to convey anything to these ppl and get the thing done. If the resort is solely catering to Kannada speakers or local Karnataka people, this should be clearly specified to avoid inconvenience.|5) Things start pretty late in the morning. There is not even a cup of tea available in the morning before 8. At least they could have kept a kettle and tea/coffee ingredients in the room for early risers and frequent drinkers. And this is necessary becoz there is no room service as such available. One has to go out of one's room and look for the caretaker to get anything, assuming one knows Kannada.|6) There is hardly any space to move around the resort. They should at least have a garden or park where ppl can spend some time. Other than the pool, there is nothing.|7) There is continuous noise in the resort as either it caters to groups who come for the day to enjoy or they have functions in the nearby hall (I assume it is owned by the same person who owns the resort). I experienced this for both the days I was there.||This place is not cut-out for people from outside the state or who don't speak Kannada. Also, having your own vehicle is a must if u plan to stay here or u can feel pretty cut-off from outside world as u will be unable to go anywhere...
Read moreI heard that people of Udupi are known for hospitality. But , after the stay at the Ooru Resort, I have witnessed it during my stay. I was visiting with my family and booked my stay at this place. We requested an early check-in, it happened. Food is very delicious. It is a home cooked food. Local Suggestions to tourist spots, best food places made our whole stay very pleasant.
Sujeet - A simple man who accepts all our requests with a smile at the resort. Not to forget, he manages and owns the place. I requested for a self-drive car, he arranged it. Suggested the best Sea food hotel and arranged the reservation at the place as well. He knows to treat the customer as family and takes care of them during the entire stay. A phone call away, he suggests and arranges the things right away.
Best place for a complete family trip to Udupi. I would strongly suggest and reach out to this place and enjoy the hospitality of Ooru resort's team.
Thank You , Sujeet for a making our trip a...
Read moreOur stay at ooru was delightful. An unexpected incident happened which I would like to share with you all. On the 2 day staying at ooru, me and my family went to visit nearby beaches and temples. On our way back to the resort, our car unexpectedly broke down on middle of a main road... It was raining heavily and we were scared, since we had kids and my parents with us.... I called ooru resort owner and within no time he came at our location with a mechanic, arranged a different car for us to reach the resort.... He made sure that me and my family reached the resort safely. I will be forever grateful for him for his kindness. Thank you. The stay at ooru was very comfortable and the breakfast they provide was awesome. It felt like home. Next time whenever you are near Udupi, make sure you stay at ooru because it is the best...
