Had a very pleasant experience. To start with, it is about 15 kms from the Madikeri city with excellent road connectivity. Jus the last 200 mts is muddy road, but you can park your car in their bungalow and they'll take you in their Jeep to the homestay. Parking your car at their bunglow is quite safe. Last strech is quite tricky to cover unless you have good control on your car. They have 4 rooms of which 3 have sitouts. They are decent sized rooms with basic facilities like fan, washbasin and attached bathroom. They do not have running hot water or geyser. To give you a better feel of nature, they give you firewood heated water for bathing. Jus 50 ft away from the room is a stream where you can stretch your legs and get wet. It would be about a feet or two in depth. There is no network connectivity at all. You can reach their bunglow and make calls from there if required. Food has limited options, but whatever they serve is homely and tasty food. They have a few dogs to guard their estate which are quite friendly and common in estates. Its located in the midst of nature and it feels like paradise when it is raining. They have a huge space I'm front of the rooms where you can play outdoor games like badminton n cricket. You can even go on a small trek in their estate. Do not expect luxury, you can visit these estate stays only if you want to enjoy nature. Overall, a very laidback place for a...
Read moreThe Location was really pretty. The caretaker did the best he could. There were certain things that are not under his control, like the maintenance work that is needed. Whatever was in his capacity, he ensured to deliver. The food served as dinner was great. But here is where good things end. We have stayed in homestays in Coorg and Wayanad region several times, so obviously we know what to expect. Sadly this is the most unmaintained homestay I have ever seen. Every wall of this property is screaming for some attention - need of restoration work. Such a lovely location but unfortunately the sad part is the owner could not leverage this to his/her advantage. The walls of rooms look filthy. The roofs need restoration. Bathrooms were cleaned however, need maintenance and are very small, so small that it is difficult to take bath. The pillows have black fungus over which neat covers were put. There were bad stains everywhere. I had elderly people with me and a kid. We could not take it and instead of staying entire 3 days of booking, we just somehow spent the night and left. The good reviews that you see are mostly either paid reviews or influenced ones I believe. Instead of spending on getting good reviews, if the owner spent some bucks on restoration this property would automatically get great...
Read moreWe were here for a 3 day, 2 night stay with family and had booked the place through Air BnB.||||The location is away from Madikeri town and hence away from the crowd and noise. This is a little cottage/house tucked away in a beautiful estate in the midst of nature and still on the main road and no mobile signal to disturb you. The estate is awesome - the cottage, stream flowing through it, quite with the night having only the sound of the stream and chirps of insects.||||The rooms though small and a bit congested are real value for money and neat. While they do not have AC, you will be provided with table fans for each room and trust me thats good enough for the Coorg weather. The bathrooms were also super clean. But if you are someone looking for super luxury, this is not for you.||||The other biggest thing I loved is the food, service and the staff. Raj Estate has the best three staff I have ever seen. The food was all cooked in front of us based on what we ordered and no extra charges to any of it. The staff were super helpful catering to all of our demands ranging from ginger tea at 11pm to akkuroti and pork at short notice. Loved the place. Will...
