Let me tell you, if you're burnt out from the city life and craving a nature escape with a local twist, Rasta Homestay is the place to be! Tucked away amidst gorgeous scenery, this homestay had me feeling chilled out and like a total explorer in no time.
Cleanliness on Point: First things first, the room and bathroom were sparkling clean. Big thumbs up for that! It's important to feel fresh on vacation, and Rasta Homestay definitely delivered a comfy and hygienic space to relax after a day of adventuring.
Nature's Playground: But the real showstopper here is the location. Imagine waking up to breathtaking views and the calming sounds of birds chirping – that was my daily reality at Rasta Homestay. Being surrounded by nature was pure bliss, and it made for a super peaceful escape.
Local Knowledge ROCKS!: The owner here is an absolute legend! They weren't just friendly; they were like a walking local encyclopedia. They totally hooked me up with recommendations for hidden gems and must-see sights, way off the tourist trail. Thanks to their tips, I felt like I got a real insider's experience of the area, not just the stuff in the guidebooks. The staff were awesome too, super welcoming and always there to answer my questions and make sure I had everything I needed.
Foodie Fun with Flexibility: Now, here's a heads up for foodies: meals aren't always on hand unless you let them know in advance. But hey, that just adds to the fun! This homestay has a really cool kitchen that you can use to cook your own meals. This was perfect for me, as I could whip up exactly what I was in the mood for.
Planning Pays Off: There's just a couple of things to keep in mind. There aren't any restaurants or hotels for like 8km around, so planning meals or grabbing groceries beforehand is a good idea. Oh, and if you're dreaming about cozying up by a bonfire under the stars, you'll need to mention it to the owner ahead of time. There's a small extra charge, but trust me, it would be totally worth it!
Explore Like a Local: And guess what makes it even better? You can take your exploring to the next level! The homestay offers the option to book a jeep for local travel. This is a fantastic way to see more of the area and get a taste of adventures you won't find in any guidebook.
Rasta Homestay is a dream come true for nature lovers and anyone seeking a unique and local experience. The clean and comfy room, friendly staff, and the owner's local knowledge made for an unforgettable stay. While planning meals and the lack of nearby options require a little forethought, the ability to cook your own food, the stunning natural setting, and the option for a local jeep adventure make it a truly special place. I highly recommend this place, especially for those who crave peace, quiet, and a chance to explore...

Nestled amidst lush greenery, this place offers an unparalleled experience of serenity and exploration. The accommodation is not only budget-friendly but also perfect for creating lasting memories.
One of the highlights of this stay is the guided jeep tours (available at an additional price), which provide a unique way to explore the breathtaking beauty of Sakleshpur. Madan and Sahadev, the hosts, were incredibly warm and hospitable, going out of their way to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. Their knowledge of the area made the tours even more special as they took us to hidden gems and scenic viewpoints.
The food here was exceptional, with the standout being their akki rotti—a delicious, authentic dish of Sakleshpur that is a must-try for anyone visiting. Each meal was thoughtfully prepared, adding to the homely and welcoming atmosphere.
For those traveling by train, the convenience of hiring their jeep to visit various attractions is a great bonus. It’s truly the best place for a stay that balances comfort, adventure, and affordability. Don’t miss out on this gem when planning your next trip...
Read moreBooked 2 halls with 5 beds each, but were greeted with setup evident thru attached photos. We were group of 3 families, and 2 of families reached there around 12 to be welcomed with rooms completely undone, dirty with previous occupants’ left out. As per staffs we were little too early for check-in at 12!! Additional surprise was the two housekeeping staffs themselves quoting that it’s only 2 of them there and better we make an alternate booking somewhere else as they already have a group of 8-10 checked in, hence would be difficult for them to serve us optimally. We had to make an alternate arrangement at a different facility. We had paid 2K for advance which was not refunded though the cancellation we had to make was never coz of any reason of ours, and was only due to the facility not being up to the mark and photos shared by them and on booking.com was simply misleading.
One worthy mention though for the caretaker/manager Madan, who was courteous enough to help us get the bag returned, which we missed there amidst all the experience we had at check-in attempt.
On summary, never a recommendable place based on experience, more so never pay advance to these ppl until you see the facility, as it’s kind of evident that they are just there to cheat and earn with so called, no...
