LOCATION : i dont know of many resorts which has as remote and as picturesque location has this one has. Right through a dense forest on a single lane well paved road all to the last part where the road has sugarcane plantations on both sides. The parking is ample and goggle directions is perfect. There are also clearly visible signboards put up by the resort all along the major turns. CHECK IN : basic and quick. Can be better. ROOMS : The design of hallway is nice and pleasing to the eyes. All around including the rooms they have used black kadappa stone with white paint and wood finish making it basic but pleasing to the eyes. The property started in 2018 however needs oodles of maintainance. Lift breaks down, room main door lock of room no 209 was loose and required multiple attempts to lock and unlock. The Premium AC room had a typical odour, the switches were haywire and took some getting used to, the fittings in the washrooms were loose, ceiling of washroom was raw, no wifi in entire resort, no cellphone coverage (although a blessing in disguise) room cleaning was not upto the mark and the list goes on. However, this was still way better than all the other resorts in dandeli which literally seem like a scam. Toiletteries offered were 2 nos. Handmade soaps and 2 nos. Hairwash. Body wash, hand wash liquid, hand towels near washbasin waas thoroughly missed. There was tea/cofee maker in the room. TV with tata sky connection was there. In photos they show river view but in reality none of the rooms have it. ACTIVITIES : archery, zipline, coracle ride, carrom, table tennis, badminton, morning bird watching is included in the package out of which morning bird watch is just a morning walk and nothing else. It was good to interact with a local though. Campfire, music and dance are other stuff you can enjoy. FOOD : Absolutely excellent except for last day. Lots of options for veg and non veg both. Service is good even if they were understaffed. VERDICT : for the price that they charge, other than food and location all other things seem to be way lower quality than what they should iddeally offer. For 4k per person during...
Read moreI recently spent three days at the Starling River Resort in Dandeli, and unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. While the room was satisfactory, the overall stay left much to be desired.
Firstly, the facilities and activities advertised online did not match the reality on the ground. The photos on Google painted a picture of a vibrant and lively resort with a range of exciting activities. However, upon arrival, it became evident that this was not the case. The activities listed were either unavailable or severely lacking in quality. The pool, in particular, was a major disappointment. The water quality was poor, and it bore no resemblance to the pristine image depicted online.
Moreover, the discrepancy between the online portrayal and the actual experience extended beyond activities to other aspects of the resort. The ambiance and atmosphere were not as inviting as depicted, and the overall upkeep of the property left much to be desired.
One of the few highlights was the food, which was passable. However, it was not exceptional, and there were limited options available.
In summary, my stay at Starling River Resort was far from satisfactory. The disparity between the online portrayal and the actual experience, coupled with the subpar facilities and activities, left me disappointed. While the room met basic expectations, the overall experience fell...
Read moreThe location is amazing. Service is average. Rooms are pathetic. Cleanliness is below par. We had booked a commando tent for 8. You cannot stay inside during the day as it is burning hot. AC doesn't work, it is more of an air cooler and you cannot set it. Bathrooms are not well maintained. We haven't seen other rooms, but for a commando tent with such a low class facility 3000 per head was huge. A couple of guys in reception and one in the restaurant were trying hard to make guests experience better but other negatives were too much for them. The swimming pool was as dirty as a normal unattended pond with dangerous levels of chlorine which bleached all our clothes. The big positive here is the food. The food was amazing. Cuisines of all types that you usually wish for in a buffet in a trip, the chef deserves applause. One other positive is the location, truly amazing landscape. Boating and water activities are good and boys handling these are also good. Dj and dance floor is available with requested songs and all languages. So overall, book carefully, if you find good room in a good deal,...
