Hi,
This property is managed by Aster group, so quality definitely is good. Staff is very cooperative and goes length and breathe to fulfil your requests under their limits. Property managers are extremely well versed about hospitality and carries vast 5 star property management experience.
Location: Indeed, quite secluded and far from Madikeri (main town). Mid in valley of 3 hills and surrounded by lush green trees and coffee plantation. If you're nature lover like me, probably would find this place a best bet in cost that you're paying for stay. It took us around 45 more minutes to reach to property from other properties in town. Most of the guest staying in property are coming with private vehicles. Tourist and Taxi vehicles are allowed by no arrangement for drivers. As I was traveling with tourist vehicle, my driver had to stay in car for all 3 nights (tough indeed) and I'd to bear cost of food expenses for him as well (irrespective of bata, on human ground). Closest food or grocery shop is 10+ KM away.
Food: Excellent, economical and served hot. Breakfast is on the house, options are limited to 3-4 items but tastes better. Feels homely. Definitely our expectation were little better but we managed with what's being served. You've be very prompt with your food plans (lunch and dinner) and inform before certain cut off as they prepare fresh. Room service was decent enough. Cutlery provided all metal/melamine, so if you prefer ceramic/porcelain ones, carry your owns.
Stay: We booked 2 cottages (total 3). I found them impressive in size. Bathroom was clean and tidy and provided with guest kit (good). 1 queen size bed, 2 standing fans, 1 center tables, 2 plastic chairs, 1 wardrobe, last dressing table (retro) and 1 futon bed provided, my daughter found it comfy and slept all 3 nights there. I've major complaint with bed sheets and blankets as I'm fond of 4/5 star bed linings, provided ones are colouful and clean. Pillows where small and less comfy definitely needs an update. Room is deprived with proper lightings (of course it's rainy season). All lights are put in left size of cottage and other side is totally blank (tv wall). I personally gave feedback about lights in room and learnt from receptionist they are working on it with properly power supply setup. Currently voltage fluctuation is there are lot of time fan speed goes up and down. Ah! we're in middle of a jungle. :)
Property has a swimming pool facing to large landscape and it was mesmerizing experience. Though it was raining all day and water was cold, our family with young kids enjoyed a lot. Water quality definitely could have been better. It was raining so we ignored.
Due to rain lot of leaches around property manager kept us well information. To see the closest water stream (really nice) we were asked to wear shoes and intermittently watch foot. A guide was with us all the time helping with umbrellas and clicking photos. Good staff.
Food bills were very clear and we ended up wrapping up our billing in
Read moreWe selected Three Hills to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Woah! It was such a great place for the perfect getaway.
We finalized to stay at Three Hills after our week long research. One week after our stay, we can confidently say that it was a perfect decision to stay at Three Hills.
Now coming to all the details of our stay :-
We took a rental bike from Madikeri town to travel through out our vacation. This place is almost 20 kms from Madikeri Town. First 10Kms its the NH road and the next 10Kms is a single lane road. Only if you are good at driving through hair pin curve roads, I would suggest to take your own vehicle. Having said that, the drive to the resort was an exhilarating experience. You drive through roads with lush green mountain on either side and sound of streams flowing.
About the resort :- This resort is in the foot hills surrounded by Three Hills. We booked wooden cottage overlooking green mountains, coffee plantation and ponds. The cottage was spacious, clean, with a cute sit out. They only have 8 cottages so its not crowded. Calm and peaceful.
We went in the first week of December. There were snails in the room, that is expected when we are staying amidst so many trees. There were no mosquitoes, but we did carry mosquito repellant. Climate was chill and pleasant.
The staff took us for a trekking around their 65 acres property and they have a stream flowing through their property. That is 'THE BEST' part about this resort.
The food was amazing. The food was always served hot and tasted great. Be careful about the quantity of curry you order since, one bowl of dhal can serve 3 adults easily. Good value for money.
Last but not the least - Staffs who work for Three Hills. I would say they are the primary reason to make your stay the best. They are so friendly and take good care of each guests. They make you feel home.
Special mention to Siva and Sajan. Siva took care of us so well. Even when we were out he continuously called us to check if they should arrange food for us.
Few points to keep in mind:-
Three hills resort. With lots off expectations I with my family decided to stay. As we are first time visiting Coorg, we had no idea on which would be the best place to stay. Let me start with the resort. This review is going to be big. This resort is situated 10km interior in the jungle from bhagamandala. So if you are planning to roam around and visit some places around Madikeri, Kushalnagara, it is seriously not going to be easy as the road to resort is a single road and is patchy off road. It gets darker and foggy very early and it rains almost every hour( I visited in the Sep end). If you are expecting anything nearby to visit, forget about it as there are no attractions within a radius of 25-40kms. This location is very isolated and if you are looking just to relax and stay and go no where this is the best resort.
Coming to the stay in the resort, this resort has luxury tent, premium tent and cottages to choose from. I chose luxury tent. Interiors are good. But if you are in tents expect frequent power outages, we had no power from midnight 2 till morning 9 until we noticed that it was tripped and it was not actually the power cut but was the circuit issue. Power cuts are often.
Coming to the view. This resort is only for the view and in my opinion just view and nothing else. You can keep sitting out for hours and do nothing. It is just view. It has an artificial waterfall for which you ll have to Trek for sometime from your tent. Will cover it's pros and cons separately at the end. There is a pond which is not accessible and just for view.
Coming to food. We are vegetarian and have options with a bit of high prices. Resort has a restaurant where you need to order them before and visit to eat and sometimes can get it delivered. Service in restaurant is good. Resort provide complementary breakfast which is a buffet with a very limited items. Food seems to be not that great and anyways you ll have to rely on it as there is nothing in the radius of 20km.
Coming to activities. There are no activities, there is a swimming pool which is decent. There is a place for bonfire, which we could not access as it was raining all the time during the stay. There is a play area inside restaurant, that has a carrom board, snooker table, table tennis table... So if you are looking for some activities. Then am not sure if it suites.
If you are bringing kids I guess it is better for you to keep them indoors. Leeches all around.
Let me go to pros and cons
Pros
Cons
My opinion: I felt this resort could have been made more tourist friendly and maintained. Food can be improved considering the price they charge. The view is a plus but it is a minus because of the...
