Bhuvi Retreat — Hotel in Kerala

Wow what an amazing experience. Sayooj and his wife are two of the kindest and most special hosts I have ever experienced in my many years of travel all over the world.

From the first moment arriving at this truly unique boutique resort in the truly beautiful Thambai Forest I was treated like royalty and beautiful heartfelt smiles.

I was expecting the accomodation to be clean and basic but was blown away with a deluxe room with the most comfortable bed I have slept in India so far. My first truly warm shower in weeks in Kerala and spotless facilities to myself.

The food was way above expectations and Bincy, Sayoojs wife served up top quality wholesome restaurant quality food and service the best I have experienced in Kerala.

The grounds were like walking into another world and myself and my friend felt spiritually cleansed just walking the picturesque property surrounded by breathtaking views from one of Keralas and Indias most idealic beautiful locations.

We went through the jungle with Sayooj in his warrior Jeep and experienced a once in a lifetime moment searching for tigers, elephants and natures remarkable forests and wild animals, waterfalls , rivers, mountains and beautiful smiles amongst the local people.

All I can say in that of my over 30 years of travel over more than 40 countries Bhuvi Resort and the management and staff have made this one of my biggest highlights of my travelling life. A total transformation into another world and maybe this is Nirvana on Earth.

Thankyou Bavi Resort you will be forever in my mind and heart and I can only say to others that this is a must stay location not only in Kerala but the whole of India.

We planned our visit to this place for a special occasion and had the worst experience. The place which we had booked looking through the pictures was actually allotted to some local guys for drinking purpose. The host showed us the other cottage which was comparatively small without any ventilation and the washroom as well was outside the room. We immediately said that since we have paid for the other cottage, we wanted to stay there as the other cottage was not livable but then the host tricked us by saying that he has another property nearby which is bigger and better than this and that we can stay there. We were little skeptical however he was constantly telling us that since all guys are gonna come n drink tonight so it might not be safe to stay there. After asking multiple times that how can you give your hotel to such people who you think will come and create ruckus, he didn’t answer and was very adamant about us shifting to other property. But our nightmare didn’t end there, he took us to some isolated resort around 20 minutes away from Bhuvi which had pathetic rooms and no network coverage. We agreed to stay there for a night and asked him to accommodate us in Bhuvi the next day but the next day he stopped answering the call and finally said that those guys are gonna be there today as well..after all the harassment we finally decided to leave that place and managed to get the refund for one day. But I would strongly recommend no family to visit this place. Maybe the owner should understand to distinguish between the folks whom he wants to host at his place when he is so particular about his ratings!! Literally ruined...

Situated at Periya village, Wayanad North Please note: This place is completely safe, no landslides here.

Landslide happened in South wayanad which is around 80 kms away.

This is a beautiful serene place engulfed by lush green forest & tea gardens. Morning view is absolutely magnificent, fog bed covering the forest and the mountains. Bison frequently visiting the backyard. Wonderful view and experience sitting at the watchtower and enjoying nature and its wilderness. They have their private tea estate, private Jeep is provided for offloading and sightseeing.

This resort currently has two cottages is maintained and run by the owner and his wife. An absolute guest privacy is always ensured by the management, no disturbance from anyone ....except for the birds chipping all day

Very courteous and humble hosts, a feeling of home.. far away from home.

Delicious homely food from the owner's kitchen, his wife is an excellent cook. Do try... Puttu with black channa curry / mixed sprouts gravy, red rice with chicken masala curry / fish red curry/fish yellow curry/fish tawa fry.

I was fascinated to see, not a single honking after entering Wayanad and even the dogs seldom bark at strangers. A very peaceful place with nice people all around. One of the best vacations I had.
