A simple and relaxed stay! Stayed here with family and parents. We were looking for a property close to the beach and decided to go ahead based on its Google review. Overall I would rate the experience 4/5. For detailed review continue to read below: Place: From the beach towards mainland, the sequence is sea- beach- road- an open compound and then the property. So technically not by the beach but an easy walk of 80 odd meter will get you there, hence easy for a stroll at midnight too. The beach is clean and travelers are requested to leave it that way! Food: Meals are prepared by someone next to the property. It is home food and hence simple and basic. I felt food could have been better Rooms: Very clean, washed and clean linen and the painting of the walls were done recently so we felt the place was pretty tidy. Ambience: The place is simple, but some personal touches add charm to it. Do not expect luxury, but a simple minimalist albeit pretty place. Activities: Sushil , who hosted us managed the property and has his hands full. He also takes you on small walks and local sightseeing. This region has too many spots to explore so you can plan your day and no of days stay depending on what you would like to do. We had a good walk one of the mornings where we saw some pristine beaches, rock temple and local fishermen out on their tasks early morning. Overall: From the price point, attention given to guest and location of the place I would grade it 4/5. Sushil will not hesitate in showing other properties and saying their uniqueness around the vicinity on his walk on the beach which I appreciated. An ideal place for a simple and relaxed holiday, the homely way without any frills but worth the...
Read moreLovely place if you are looking for nature & tranquility. I think this applies to any beach spot close to Kannur as this region is clearly less touristic (yet) than other places in Kerala. There's a beautiful private beach on 2 minutes walking distance. The city of Kannur is about 40 minutes ride by rickshaw and another small town Thottada on 10-15 minutes. Note: this place is disconnected (which is its beauty) but so you depend on the staff to order a rickshaw or call one yourself. Tip for Europeans that can't only do with spicy/Indian food: Kannur has some good supermarket chain (Greens) and another lovely bakery store called Bake Story (both near the train station) which you could go to do groceries / have lunch. At Bodhi's Beach House there's no wifi but 3g works fine! I spent 4 nights here with my family (husband, sister in law and daughter of 2 yrs old). We rented the 2 rooms downstairs. The one on the left seemed newer than the one on the right but both in good condition. For us it was a good place to relax ourselves from travelling for a while. Food (breakfast and dinner) is cooked by the neighbour. Indian food with European 'twist' if you ask for it. Good quality. When we were there manager Sushil took care of us. He is modern, speaks perfect English and did a great job in helping us out with questions and activities. Also he can tell you a lot about other tourist places in India because he organizes trips as a tour agent. For me the highlights of our visit to Bodhi Beach House: chilling in the hammock, running on the beach in the morning and a visit to Lokanath Weavers company (15 mins ride) - don't...
Read moreSituated right next to the clean and beautiful Kizhunna beach, Bodhi Beach House is a perfect place for taking a break from our daily lives and the hustle bustle of the city.
The property is surrounded by a lot of greenery, making it an ideal place for nature lovers, who want to relax and spend time in the midst of nature. The beach is just a few metres walk from the property, and it is a long stretch of clean, flat and white sands. During the day, the beach is almost empty, with nobody to disturb you and you can have a quiet and peaceful time with your friends/partner/family/pets. In the mornings and evenings, there may be a few other visitors, but not that many as compared to other beaches.
Bodhi Beach House is one of the few places in Kannur that is pet friendly, and with only a few rooms in the property, there are not many other guests, making your stay almost like a private one, where you and your pet can have a peaceful and undisturbed holiday. Our German Shepherd had a wonderful time; playing in the sand, roaming about in the property and getting amused by different sounds of different birds.
Caretaker Sushil is very helpful, friendly, hospitable and attentive. He's always there to help you with anything you may need, anytime of day.
The last thing I would like to mention about is the food, which is very good. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is made to order for both humans and pets. We wanted to stick to the local food and really enjoyed the yummy local dishes that was prepared for us.
Overall, we really enjoyed our personalised stay at the property and we would definitely visit it again...
