Tucked away within the serene surroundings of an already beautiful place called Ottapalam, is this heritage resort restored to glory called Kalappura... A place that welcomes you with a vast open field on the right, which was where Kala Poottu [catlle races] were conducted earlier, and a plantation of Areca Nut trees on the left, between which lies a nice relaxing pool... what a surrounding... And then you enter this beautiful heritage farm house, which awes you right from the get go. What a positive feeling right when you enter... It is some of these small factors that proves Vasthu in the olden days were a level different that what we follow today. More than being nostalgic or remembrance of an era gone by with the ambience, you are immediate made to feel at home... warm, peaceful... and the way it has been restored, with tiles that follow the manufacturing method passed down be generations, wood worked stairs reminiscing an era gone by, Four Poster beds that you remember from your days gone by... but with the modern basic creature comfort in the bed and bath area leaves you longing for those well needed rest. Activates are galore for youngsters, with a variety of pets within their fences, pony riding and horse riding for those who want to, or play a little bit of ball of your linking between the tree plantations, or just walk around breathing in the fresh air... and if you are lucky, you may get to see one or two of their elephants as well.... And for those who like exploring around, Varikkasseri Mana is about 2km from there... This place hosts parties, functions or just opens for getaways to your liking... For us, a party we had once elevated our spirits... and a quick getaway stay relaxed our souls....

I was in India for my vacation in August 2022. During my vacation in India We stayed in Kalappura, Ottapalam. We really Love this place. Loved the location. Very scenic. We stayed there 3 nights with my wife and 2 children and my mother. Each of them said it was their favourite place. The house was so big. The interior was elegant. They have a well equipped kitchen. Everything was awesome. The bathroom was spacious and spotless. There are lot of things for kids, our kids wanted to stay there more days. It was really a wonderful experience for my kids to cherish as a childhood memory. We were allowed to explore their farm and my kids took full advantage of that. My kids enjoy all the animals in the farmhouse. They have horses, geese, goats, rare breeds of dogs, (many of them won prizes in dog shows) turkeys , chicken and hundreds of different types of butterflies flying around. Being around the animals was very fun for my kids. Great way to experience the countryside of valluvanad. The place was very clean, nice and well organised. They have a well maintained swimming pool. The water was crystal clear. The caretaker Mukesh was very helpful to check for every little thing we need. The owner of the property Mr.Govind visited us couple of times during our stay to make sure we are comfortable with our stay. He was kind enough to provide local information and guidance. I am so happy to find such a wonderful place and it’s a privilege to get to know Mr.Govind. We are so grateful to our amazing host for being so welcoming and kind. If you are looking for a place to relax, this is the best place. We will definitely visit again on our next vacation in India and stay longer

Our family had the most amazing time at the farm resort! The owner Mr.Govind and his family 🥰 warm hospitality and genuine care made our stay truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we felt like part of their extended family. The resort itself was a paradise - cozy and well-equipped cottages, stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Our kids were thrilled with the chance to interact with animals and learn about farm life. What really stood out was the owner's personal touch. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, from accommodating dietary preferences to arranging bonfires under the starry sky. It was evident that they take immense pride in their property and genuinely want their guests to have a memorable experience. The owner's passion for sustainable practices and the environment was inspiring, adding an educational aspect to our getaway. Leaving was bittersweet, as we felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. This farm resort stay exceeded our expectations in every way, and we're already planning our next visit. If you're seeking a rejuvenating family getaway with a personal touch, look no further. This is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise!

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Kalappura Resort during our vacation in Ottapalam, Kerala. The place is beautiful and is setup like a heritage resort with its exquisite collection of antique pieces and stunning interior design. From the moment I stepped into the resort, I was transported to a bygone era of elegance and charm right from the flooring, to the furniture and fixtures.

Every corner in Kalappura is adorned with carefully curated antique furniture, artwork, and decor that seamlessly blend together to create a timeless atmosphere. The attention to detail is remarkable, and it's evident that the owners have spared no expense in preserving and showcasing these historic pieces. From the light fixtures to the hand-carved wooden furnishings, every element contributes to the overall sense of luxury and nostalgia.

The overall charm is complemented by lush gardens with lots of butterflies, well-maintained courtyards and a nice swimming pool. The serene and peaceful surroundings make it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The rooms in Kalappura are also very comfortable and spacious, with an elegant vintage touch. The antique furniture and decor elements are consistent throughout the accommodations, creating a very unique atmosphere. Although they tried to build this property like a heritage resort, they have ensured that they have modern bathroom with upmarket fixtures along with contemporary bedding and air conditioning which is very helpful for Kerala weather.

Overall, I felt Kalappura to be a hidden gem for those seeking a unique and immersive heritage experience at a good price point. The antique pieces and beautiful interior design create an ambiance that is both captivating and tranquil. While there's room for improvement in certain aspects like addition of more amenities like an Ayurveda Spa and a mini-Gym (which is common in such resorts these days), the overall experience is one that I will cherish. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to escape into a world of history and elegance at a reasonable price. It's a destination that leaves a lasting impression and invites you to relive the past in the...

We booked Kalappura Farm House for our Textile Travels tour group of 11, in January 2024. By the end of our three night stay, we were all totally in love with the house, the food, the lovely owner Govind, his delightful son, and his friendly and helpful manager, the treehouse, the gorgeous pool, the deicious, freshly prepared food, and last but far from least, Govind's father's magnificent elephant Rajendran that we had the utmost pleasure in meeting! Govind was so attentive to our every need, from the menus, which he requested that we choose, to my request for some loungers round the pool after I had first visited. When we arrived with the group, a full array of sunbeds with a wonderfully designed roof canopy for shading was there waiting for us! This personal touch and Govind's evident enthusiasm for this beautiful house and garden, filled with butterflies and small summerhouses for outdoor refreshments, was very infectious and refreshing not to mention humbling. We really appreciated everything he had done for us. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and furnished with carved wooden bed heads, tea making facilities, hand made Athangudi floor tiles and the best quality bathroom fitments. Comfortable beds and spotlessly clean throughout. Govind's personal touch in the design of the house, really made it a welcoming and warm place to inhabit. The upper rooms have lovely balconies and there's an open airy games/ lounge area upstairs looking out over the garden and fields beyond. The well kept large swimming pool, surrounded by Areca nut palms, has a pool house with showers next to it as well as the afore mentioned shaded sunbeds! A lovely place to chill in the hot afternoons. We also enjoyed a tour round nearby Varrikasseri Mana arranged by Govind and a snack lunch for the group at a nearby hotel, again, arranged for us by Govind. I can't speak highly enough about our group visit to Kalappura. It was truly a highlight of our tour, and I can't wait to return there with our next tour group. Thank...
