I went to the resort with a lot of expectations by seeing the positive reviews at different sites. but the same was not justified in my personal experience!!!!
The resort is overpriced compared to the amenities and standard it has. I understand the crisis of the resort industry during the pandemic, but it should not be at the cost of customer dissatisfaction.
I along with family members (6 adults and four kids less than 6 years old) stayed at a three bedroom villa for one day. The rooms are spacious. But the furniture, flooring and bathroom fittings were looking very shabby and some were damaged.
The beds in each room are just enough to accommodate two adults. No additional space to cater for kids of even 2 years old. Moreover there is no option of two single beds instead of one double bed (this is not good for a family consisting of aged people and mixed family members). One good part is one each additional mattress is kept in each room, but you have to plead to the staff to provide additional bedsheets/ blanket for the same although they had agreed to it during booking time ( The catch is that it was without additional cost for children )
The menu is highly overpriced. A Kerala parotta of Rs.10 ( even at 3 star hotels in Kerala) costs Rs.30 (three times more) here. A mineral water bottle of MRP 13 costs Rs. 25 here(even when there are Govt restrictions for overpricing drinking water) and so on. The rooms are provided with only single water bottles as complementary and there are no other provisions for drinking waters. So you are forced to buy more water bottles at overpriced rates even along with meals.
My kids were having lot of expectations to use the pools as the resort personnel had promised proper staggering of time with adequate sanitization arrangements. But contrary to that the pool was not ready till 1800 post refilling of water and they advised not to use it till next day morning. Next day morning there was any arrangement for pools and different guests were using it at their own risk. There was no one to monitor pool activities.it is not just safe during non pandemic situations too.
I was excited to show the extravaganza of buffet breakfast to my parents and in-laws as it was the first time for them..(from my past experience even at budget hotels). But most disappointingly there were hardly any varieties and the arrangements can be compared to some homestay facilities.
There is no direct access to the Karappuzha dam/ reservoir near which the Dam is situated. You can have a view of it (only reservoir area) from the room.. that's it. If you want to go to the dam, you need to travel some distance by vehicle through narrow roads. And there are hardly any other tourist attractions nearby the resort. so you will prefer to stay back at the resort itself once you reach there. However, the facilities are not adequate to please any age group. The rides in the children play area are dirty and some are damaged.
Overall there are some facilities... but non standard and poorly maintained compared to the amount they are...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Karappuzha Reservoir Resort and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience. While the resort had its positives, it fell short in several areas, making it a mixed experience.
Poor maintenance: One of the major downsides of the resort was its poor maintenance. The buildings seemed old and neglected, showing signs of wear and tear. It was disappointing to see the lack of attention given to upkeep, which affected the overall ambiance of the resort.
Old building: Another drawback was the outdated architecture and decor of the resort. The buildings appeared old and in need of renovation. This added to the feeling of being in a somewhat outdated and uninspiring environment.
Bad smell from toilet: One of the most unpleasant aspects of my stay was the persistent bad smell emanating from the toilet. Despite raising the issue with the staff, the problem was not adequately addressed, making it an uncomfortable and unsatisfactory experience.
No Wi-Fi: A notable drawback was the absence of Wi-Fi throughout the resort. In today's connected world, it was disappointing not to have access to the internet for essential communication and staying connected with friends and family.
No swimming pool: Another downside was the lack of a swimming pool. This was particularly disappointing as many guests expect a resort to have a pool for relaxation and recreation. The absence of this facility limited the options for leisure activities.
Best breakfast: On a positive note, the resort excelled in providing a delightful breakfast. The breakfast options were varied, well-prepared, and delicious. It was a pleasant start to the day, and the quality of the breakfast service stood out positively among other aspects of the resort.
Best view of Karappuzha Reservoir: Arguably the most redeeming feature of the resort was its breathtaking view of the Karappuzha Reservoir. The picturesque scenery and serene surroundings were truly captivating, providing a sense of tranquility and natural beauty.
In conclusion, my experience at Karappuzha Reservoir Resort was a mixed one. While the resort offered stunning views of the Karappuzha Reservoir and served an excellent breakfast, it fell short in terms of poor maintenance, an old building, bad smell from the toilet, the absence of Wi-Fi, and the lack of a swimming pool. These issues impacted the overall quality of my stay and left much to be desired. I hope the resort management takes note of these areas for improvement to enhance the experience for...

Stayed for 3d 2n. This resort is located at the serene shore of the Karapuzha river in wayanad district kerala.
The resort is so cleverly designed that almost all villas are lake facing with beautiful garden in the middle. If you are a photographer this is a must visit place. Even the breakfast restaurant has beautiful scenery to offer.
They have 7-8 cottages. Stayed in their only 3bedroom+hall villa. Opted for this cos we were having a 3family get-together and wanted to dine together inside d villa. All are air-conditioned. With led TV and queen sized beds. They provide additional bed for additional price. The kettle is provided only on request. And they are not providing coffe or tea bags with it. Complimentary breakfast package we opted for.
Breakfast -around 10 spreads, tasty food. They provide fruits, juice, tea, coffe plus south indian spreads.
The garden is neatly maintained. They have adult swing which is half broken. Good only for couple of photos there. They dont have hammock. The concrete and metalic seats in d garden are nice.
Kids play area is good with a slide, couple of kids swings, spring seat, a lader and seats. They have 3 Persian cats, couple of swans, ducks etc (im not an expert in naming those!) Kids will enjoy their company..
The dinner- lunch restaurant is average on ambience and taste. They dont have south indian meals (surprised) .. the biryani\ is tasteless.. white rice with dal is ur good bet there. Chicken kabab is tasty.
They have 2 small ponds with lots of fish and kids will like it.
The pool is just ok with medium water quality. Its not a heated pool. I feel the filtration system is inadequate. Half the pool is in direct sun.. so recommend using it in early morning or late evening..
They have parking for 10-12 cars. They do not clean your car. Uncovered parking. So expect bird droppings on d car when you leave.
The staffs are courteous. Some interns were confused regarding some food order. Otherwise very much helpful staffs. They can speak Malayalam English and hindi.
Wheelchair accessible areas are less. They dont have a bar licence. The climate is typical tropical in d noon. The nights are manageable without a blanket in summer. Like any forest/lake themed resort you should be careful to keep d doors and windows shut all the time to avoid pest issue.
I strongly recommend this resort for family get togethers and...
