I have been to many hotels and inns in various countries. This place easily tops the worst-hotel list. The only good thing about this place is the view. You're better off getting an overpriced drink, taking pictures there and then staying somewhere else. The staff are completely unprofessional and prone to argue with customers. I am not one to write reviews but wish to list just a few (of too many) issues, for the benefit of potential customers: No concern for safety. The entire premise is surrounded by a fence that easily allow children to fall into a steep hill. We came as a family with many infants and children and were waiting for the key to the dormitory and confused why they would not hand them over. We had EXPLICITLY said that we wanted the room and yet they did not hand them over until paying the full amount. No advertised campfire No advertised cottages No advertised honeymoon room Advertised hall not complete No hot water through showers. Have to wait in a queue to pour into a bucket from one small heater. We had told the staff of plans to play music at the entrance for wedding celebrations. They said OK. On the day we arrived, they said we have to pay Rs. 100,000 to play a keyboard and guitars for a few hours. Additionally, they asked for 10,000 to fix the hall that was advertised as ready to play music. No advertised laundry 11 No one was even present at the resort at times, let alone having advertised room service. We were not even shown where the first aid kit was. Completely unprofessional behavior from owner. He did not bother welcoming guests and stalked the guests to make sure no music was being played. No advertised complimentary breakfast because we didn't book through the site. DIRTY SHEETS. We asked them to change them and it took several hours before they complied.
This is not a resort. This is just an ambitious homestay that is way out of its league. You're better off staying somewhere nicer, cheaper, and with...
Read moreLocation - The resort has a serene location with good views and is located close to Calvary Mount view points. ||Rooms - The main resort rooms are decently kept and maintained. The beds are not the best but one can live with it. Please do not select the farm cottage if you are going as a couple or family. It is very poorly kept and there is no resort staff (or any human in shouting distance) at the cottage. But the view from this cottage is breathtaking||Wifi - we did not have Wifi for 75% duration of our stay and Airtel does not have strong 4G presence in the rooms.||Facilities - other than the rooms and dining area there is not much to do in the resort premises, which is fair at this price point.||Activities - They offer guided treks and off-road drives to view points. A 2km off road jeep drive to a view point nearby is recommended. But please make sure to ask for the trip to be post 9 when the sky is clear to get the best view. They charged us 1500 for the trip but I'd urge all of you to negotiate it .||Management - The facility was desparately short staffed. The team forgot about our booking and when we reached the resort there was noone there though the rooms and the resort were unlocked without even a security guard. There was no kitchen staff during the entirety of our stay and food was provided from local hotels and it was not great. This resort is a part of a plantation group who shuffles staff between different roles in the estate and the resort which might have caused this mishap. If they are serious about the hospitality business I hope the management takes a serious look into maintaining a lean staffing (at least) during non-peak seasons.||But I should mention the special efforts taken by Amal the young caretaker who went over and beyond to ensure we are comfortable. I would have been far less satisfied had it not been for his...
Read moreA fabulous place to be in. Went there early this week for a night stay. Had the most wonderful climate I ever have had at Idukki. The rooms are neat and tidy. With a kettle and emergency lamp . (The plug sockets were a bit loose though, but never mind.) The bathroom was clean, and had heater at good service. The toilet of our room was a bit clogged. But our friends who stayed at the other room never had such a problem. The Resort is just a few minutes from Kalvery Mount Hills, which we visited and was covered with fog! We couldn't see the view from the Hills because of the excessive fog. The staffs are very friendly, Mr. Tommy who was present there all the day during our stay is a wonderful personality. He seemed to be so genuine and even guided us to visit Meghamalai Hills located a 100 kms away from the resort , near Theni ini Tamilnadu. We had our best experience there . The restuarant they have is not fully functional. However our breakfast which was complimentary was delicious. They arrange veg/non -veg dishes as per our concern.
Altogether the stay at Meghamalai Resorts was great! And we owe great many thanks to Mr. Tommy for making our trip reach the next level.
Attaching pictures for reference of the climate around and...
