I have been to Neyyar Heritage Inn a couple of times, once for a day out package along with four other families and recently on 03 Aug 2024 for a family get together in the evening.
The Day out package was a real good experience for all the five families, especially for the kids who could play in the open space, have some time splashing in the artificial pool and waterfalls within the premises...
The day before our first visit, it was raining and so we were a bit concerned whether to go with the Day Out package or not... However we decided to continue with the package deal and reached the place in batches, though a little late. One of the best things we noted was the staff out there was so welcoming and ready to help you out on any of your needs. The suite room was spacious, neat, clean and tidy. Hut along the lake side was also neat and clean with an attached bathroom. The Samudra Sadya was so tasty and above our expectations... Best thing was they were open to arrange different food (on request while finalising the package) to the preference of kids and a couple of others without any hesitation and at no extra cost...
Being late to arrive at the destination and the rains in between, we decided to cancel the trekking part with kids (age group 4 yrs to 14 years) would have been difficult on that day. So we got to spend extended hours in and around the premises and went for the boating (which was included in the package). All including kids and the grownups thoroughly enjoyed every moment we spent there and returned to be there soon to experience other packages they have on offer.
A start up by a group of ambitious youngsters, with a will to improve and provide better services to all who visit the place, I am sure they will go miles ahead with their attitude...
The second visit was for a family get together on 03 Aug 2024 - birthday celebration of my cousin's mother who turned 83... A group of family members - mostly aged 50 to 80 was the crowd visiting...
We visited the premises a couple of days before to check the preparations. A few suggestions were made to suit the visiting members (since most of them were aged) and Mr. Sreeji, one of the partners of the property, was ready to accommodate those without any hesitation. The approach way towards the stage down and near the lake side and proper lighting was arranged to our full satisfaction, buffet, accommodation to our likes.
A few glitches, but all reached the premises around 6pm. Ample space for parking within the premises and a property they own opposite to this - we came in 02 56 seater buses and others in own cars. The party went on till 10 pm with an orchestra team and magic show (both of which were arranged by us).
All those who participated were happy with the quality of service and other arrangements made and many have expressed their desire to explore other packages on offer, soon.
The change I noticed between the two visits is that they have added a couple of huts, an additional ERUMADAM sort of arrangement, more space at dining.
We noted a couple of issues - a major one was the issue with the direction link provided on their website, which they could work on and improve. The same was conveyed to the owners then and there which they took in a positive way. Hope to see those changes soon or whenever we visit the place next...
All the very best to the hard working...

Read moreOur team outing on November 8th, with around 20 people, was a mix of good experiences and a few misses. We chose the dayout package, which included boating at Neyyar Dam and visits to the crocodile and deer parks. The boating experience was pleasant, with the crew explaining various sights. While the crocodile park had only 2–3 crocodiles, we skipped visiting the deer park after being told to wait for over an hour due to cleaning. Since the deer park is considered a highlight of the trip, the owner could have ensured better coordination upfront to avoid such delays.
At the Neyyar homestay, we booked two AC rooms (one complimentary and the other for INR 4000). While they provided a corridor for indoor games with a Wi-Fi speaker and cordless mic, the washroom maintenance was subpar, and repeated requests to fix the flush system were ignored. This reflected a clear lapse in management.
Lunch was served on banana leaves, featuring a traditional Sadhya with a variety of fish and prawns. While it was decent and homely, it was not particularly memorable. The trekking experience at Ambori was the most enjoyable part of the day, and the neyyar owner and guide made it engaging. Snacks and tea provided after the trek were a nice touch, but we skipped the rain dance due to time constraints.
The lack of basic amenities, such as complimentary mineral water, was disappointing, as they charged for every bottle despite this being standard in most places. While the package details were explained upfront, the homestay’s limited facilities and maintenance issues made the outing package price feel slightly high. Overall, it was a good outing with enjoyable activities, but there’s significant room for improvement in the homestay’s services...
