Visited the resort yesterday despite knowing the monsoon season (rain) during July month (Kerala) Once we exit Muthanga check post, take a left to reach this resort via Kallor road(good road with farm land left and right side) exiting the road you find Vayaltheeram (a good toddy + restaurant) nearby take a left 100m you hit the resort. Pros Courteous Service and rooms 5*, Food 4* presentation 5* Ambiance 5* It was raining entire stay. However, we spent two hours' time in the swimming pool. Water and height 5ft and 2ft good, only concern was the slippery floor while walking bare foot at couple of places, saw two kids fell, and one hit her head started crying luckily nothing happened. (Recommend non slippery tiles along path way or a green color carpet readily available in market, entire resort footpath embarked a leaf which is very good however over here team has to come up with a plan) Entire rooms are covered with huge trees like jackfruit, teakwood,... Hence, we can feel forest like atmosphere due to rain we can hear insect crickets sound all through the night outside. Frogs all around, spotted spider and blanket worm inside room (nothing to be worried as long it was not snake). Cottages 1 to 4 have a lush green farm land once the balcony is opened due to rain it's covered with water(expected) and don't open at night as light attracts insects. Food breakfast typical Kerala and Tamilnadu cuisines delicious food, dinner was a bit expensive (expected considering 10-15 members working round the clock) and could easily suffice two for each order as quantity is more. Had lunch outside at Wilton 15 minutes from resort (i have been a couple of times), very famous restaurant famous personalities such as Rahul Gandhi and many more celebrities had visited couple of times(hall of fame may take few hours) (delicious to the core 😋 best price) If you feel Chettinad/Nagarjuna/Thalapakatti/Bhai/Mughal/Malabar/Kabab corner are the best then for a moment you may consider changing it. Bathtub is pretty huge, and it seems like it is focused on couple to spend time together, or else a huge amount of water is wasted. Cons: Very few as I have said slippery tiles floor around swimming pool, 100m public road front of resort, bathtub.
The most depressing resort ever
We were two couples who went for 2 nights in Raindrops and we couldnt wait to get out of there.
It's a paradise of insects, flies and cricket who will disgust you throughout your stay. The whole place is overall gloomy and the luxury rooms we had overlooked two banana trees (yes that's it).
The rooms are big in size but the minute we stepped in, I could get the musty smell from everything. The sheets smelled like they haven't dried and the floor smelled of an old mop. The bathtub in the bathroom was so dirty that we didn't even want to look that side. There are so many gaps under the door that every night, we had 3 to 4 tadpoles in our room. We finally kept towels under the door. Night was scarier- the resort has slanting tiled roof and all night, something or the other was falling on the roof. Shady overall.
Food: I wish I didn't have to even recall the food horror. Cold, tasteless and limited only to very very peculiar kerala cuisine that the guest might or might not have a pallet for. We had taken bfast and dinner in the package and every single day, we got absolutely cold food. Infact when someone goes on a holiday, one looks forward to buffet and good spread. But this was a nightmare. We had a North Indian couple who honestly didn't have the taste for Kerala food but they didn't have options at all. There were things like boiled banana, cold thick appams and some curries. While we appreciate local food, a hotel has to remember to give variety. Not all their guests would want authentic local cuisine with zero choice on their holiday.
Staff. They were trying their best but one could see that they aren't equipped at all. It was crystal clear that the person who owns this resort hasn't stepped in for months. The kitchen was so dirty that I shuddered when I saw it. We had an infant with us and we were struggling for her milk and food here. The resort in quite far from the shops.
Activities: ZERO. There is absolutely nothing here.
Overall, If you want to waste your money and get depressed on your holiday, then go to raindrops or pls avoid it. It's a...
Read moreLocation: This property is located around ~5Kms from Sultan Bathery on the Bathery Gudalur Road. Once you turn off from the Main Road, the road leading to this property for around 500Mts is in a bad shape but motarable.
Parking Area: There is a gated Parking space to park vehicles which can accommodate around 10 Cars, but there is no dedicated security staff.
Check In Formality: Excellent experience, just took around 2 -3 minutes for the same and we were guided and introduced to the property and our units by Mr. Baiju, the resort Manager.
Rooms: The units are aesthetically furnished keeping in mind the surroundings. The unit was self contained with all facilities a traveller looks forward to. It had a TV, a nice Queen Size bed with clean sheets and a beautiful Balcony providing a beautiful view of the Paddy fields opposite to the Property. The unit also had a coffee making kettle with good supplies provided. The Bathroom was maintained brilliantly. No concerns on the quality of the linen and the bathing towels provided.
Restaurant Facility: This is managed by their head chef Vipin, an youngster and a passionate foodie. We had ensured before reaching the resort that vegetarian food was available at the resort and our hopes did not let us down, we were treated with some amazing Veg dishes including Kizhi which is one of the Chef’s best and other items during our stay for 3 days. They also serve great breakfast which has a rotating menu on a daily basis. We had the chance to taste a few of the Kerala specialities on one of the day.
Staff: Excellent set of people stationed in the resort right from Mr. Baiju to Vipin and the other boys. Highly responsive and customer centric, a huge thanks to all the people in making our holiday very comfortable.
Overall Experience: If you are looking a stay which is away from the City traffic and wants to spend some quality time with the nature, then this is the place to head to. I would highly recommend...
