A very peaceful and quiet homestay, offering a refreshing contrast to city life.

Hosts and Service The hosts are incredibly welcoming, and their service makes you feel at home. While there’s no hot water kettle in the room, they promptly provide hot water in a flask upon request. The hospitality overall is warm and accommodating.

Location and View The main highlight of this homestay is the serene view and the river nearby, creating a perfect retreat for those seeking peace and solitude. It's an ideal spot for families looking to spend quality time away from the hustle and bustle.

Road Access The roads leading to the property are narrow and steep in some areas, so travelers coming by their own vehicle should exercise caution and have good driving skills. Alternatively, cab drivers are experienced and manage these roads with ease.

Distance from Munnar Town The homestay is approximately 1 hour away from Munnar town center. This distance adds significant travel time to visit tourist spots. Due to the distance and we were only able to cover 3–4 places over three days, which felt a bit limiting.

Food Breakfast and tea are simple and homely. Dinner can be arranged, but snacks or other food options are limited due to the lack of nearby shops or restaurants. Keep this in mind, as reaching a shop requires navigating the steep roads. Dinner for 2 over three days cost ₹1,610, and the room rate was ₹2,000 per day.

Climate Since the homestay is at a lower altitude compared to Munnar town, it doesn’t have the chill of a typical hill station. The weather felt similar to Bangalore’s, and at times it was even humid. This might be a downside if you're hoping for a cold hill station experience.

Overall, this homestay is perfect for those looking to disconnect and relax in a tranquil environment. However, consider the distance, road conditions, and climate before...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Riverbench Homestay in the picturesque town of Munnar, and it was an experience that surpassed all expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted Mini Mam, the gracious host, and their genuine hospitality set the tone for a memorable stay.

The location of the homestay is simply breathtaking, nestled amidst lush greenery with a river flowing just opposite to the property. The serene atmosphere provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Each morning, I was greeted by the gentle sounds of nature and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, creating an ideal start to my day.

One of the highlights of my stay at Riverbench Homestay was undoubtedly the delectable food prepared by Mini Mam. Every meal was a gastronomic delight, showcasing the flavors of Kerala's traditional cuisine. The homemade meals were cooked with love and care, and each dish had a unique taste that left me craving for more.

Sabu Uncle and Mini Mam went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Their warm and friendly demeanor made me feel like a part of their extended family, and I truly cherished our conversations and moments shared together.

I cannot recommend Riverbench Homestay enough for those seeking a tranquil getaway in Munnar. Sabu Uncle and Mini Mam's passion for hospitality and their genuine care for their guests make this homestay an absolute gem. We left with unforgettable memories and a longing to return someday. If you're looking for a place to unwind, relish delicious meals, and experience the true essence of Munnar, Riverbench Homestay is the perfect...

Riverbench Homestay in Munnar — We spent three wonderful days at this homestay recently. Munnar itself is such a beautiful place, and when your stay is as lovely as this, the experience becomes even more special. The homestay is about 22 km from Munnar main town, but since we had our own scooty, it wasn’t a problem at all.

The room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. The bed was large enough for four people to sleep comfortably. From the balcony, we could enjoy the mesmerizing view outside — time just flew by while sitting there.

The owner, Sabu Thoppil ji, was very helpful and cheerful. Whenever we needed something, he was always available with a smile. Our room had a balcony door that opened directly to our private dining space, meant only for us. Apart from that, there were a couple more rooms nearby and one below ours.

Breakfast was complimentary, and we also ordered dinner from them — all the food was delicious. Right beside the homestay flows a mountain stream where you can take a refreshing bath; in fact, we went there for a dip on our very first day.

The surrounding area is incredibly peaceful and scenic, far away from city noise — a perfect place to spend a quiet and...

Worth a visit to Kerala on its own. This was one of the nicest stays I've ever had anywhere in the world. The jungle view from our room and from the breakfast balcony is simply stunning. Sabu and Mini are delightful hosts who know their way around the area, and provided delicious breakfast and dinner. They connected us with local driver Sijo who was brilliant. We spent a memorable day with him visiting the Eruvakilam park, tea factory, and spice plantation. Highlight was a wander through the tea plants in a setting that was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Sabu also organised a cookery dem with neighbour Jubi and took us up the hill for massages and tea. We had three nights and left on a high. Don't expect 5* but the rooms are big, clean, perfectly comfortable and we love 'bucket' showers. Sit on the balcony and tell me this isn't paradise! It was also the cheapest accommodation of our time in Kerala. In every respect our stay with Sabu and Mini far exceeded our expectations. Don't miss this. Michelin would describe this as 'worth the journey'.

I spent 4 nights at Riverbench Homestay and I'm truly happy with my stay there. Sabus family is doing a really good job in taking care of all needs during the stay. They arranged food according to my diet, helped to organise trips and were available via phone really fast if something was needed. The rook was really clean, good maintained, hot water, nice warm room lightning. I really enjoyed the balcony view as well as the rooftop for early morning yoga sessions with sunrise. Also there is a beautiful river nearby and you can do a short walk there in pure nature. Even i was alone there i felt safe and I would recommend for everyone that wants to spend more calm days near Munnar. Munnar itself is 1h busdrive away, ite definetly nice to have your own vehicle there to explore places around but Sabu can also arrange tuck tuck for day trips. My highlight trip was the pettimudi hike nearby for sunset. Maybe even more nice for sunrise. Thank you for your care and peaceful environment you're creating 🙏
