Serene Lake Resort — Hotel in Kerala

Serene Lake Resort has lovely individual buildings as your apartments with their own bathroom and a separate wash room. Each one has its own veranda with pull down blinds for privacy. I have found the service extremely good with very friendly staff always on hand for anything I need. There are lovely views across the lake and there is a lovely sandy and very private beach just at the other side of the lake. The proprietor has made sure that I have WiFi which is how I am writing this review. I have looked around this locality and there are places nearer to the beach but they are either more expensiveI or not as private as this. I have also stayed at the Taj hotel which is close by and is really lovely but about it is about three times the cost of the Serene Lake Resort. I also find these individual buildings more private and the whole experience a bit more personable than the Taj. The down side is that there are only four of these apartment buildings available so you have to book early to avoid disappointment. The Serene Lake Resort has a covered restaurant overlooking the lake with very reasonable priced food and good service. I notice that local people eat here which I always take as a good sign. When I needed to get away from busy routine for a couple of days to recharge myself, I came across thia resort. The description was tempting enough as the peace offered was a welcome change I was looking for. I visited along with my son and enjoyed the stay to the maximum extent possible. ||PROS..||True to the name.. it is peaceful with wonderful scenery around.||Hasselfree booking that does not require any advance||Can have the best food and hot tea at the restaurant facing the lake||An excellent cook who impressed both with his cooking skills and hospitality skills||Very safe place with other beautiful places to visit in case you want to step out... like Kappil beach.. varkala.. sivagiri mutt and janardhan swamy temple||Above all.. the owner who is a very diwn to earth person who is bent on serving his guests and ensure they 200% satisfied||||CONS||Minor things like boat ride bicycle ride etc offered in website but would be ready in another couple of months. But as I was not keen on stepping out..these did not matter||Wifi a bit slow at times... but only at the restaurant||||I gave this place a 5-star fot making our stay comfortable and unforgetabble. We stayed in Kappil, Varkala. For lunch we couldn't find any good place and this place looked amazing from outside so we went to this place for lunch.||||There were no much options for lunch (only egg and veg fried rice). So, we ordered egg fried rice. They took more than one hour to serve four plates of fried rice although no other guests were there in hotel and we were the only group. After making us to wait for 1 hour they served us half cooked rice and I found insect in it. When we showed it to them they argued saying it was egg piece with pepper! Seriously???||||We couldn't eat that rice so we ordered lime juice and as usual they took 30 mins to serve it. As expected even lime juice was worst, it looked like adulterated water mixed with salt and tasted very bad.||||I would give 0 stars for this place for the worst lunch but there is no option for it. I would say 1 star is for the lake and beach view from this place...
