We recently stayed in Blue Ginger Resort in Vythiri for a night as a group and it was a BIG disappointment for me.... the place is nice and a good place for family or couple but the management of the resort is totally incompetent... a complete waste of money...||Facilities: A Catastrophe|- One of the pools was completely destroyed.|- the other pool was just about a quarter full, the pool bench was covered in algae and looked like no one had used it for ages|- even the natural pool which might have been a bit of a bonus was dirty and full of leaves.|- The half empty/destroyed pools were terrible for the kids.. They had been looking forward to playing in the pool since we planned the trip.|- The Gym and Indoor game area was also closed so we didn’t even get to see it||Pathways & Courts: Neglected|- Pathways and tennis/badminton courts were full of leaves and grime - clearly neglected.||Basic Amenities: Non-Existent|- The water pressure in several bathrooms was very weak and we had difficulty flushing the toilets and getting water.|- There was no plumber - nor any staff equipped to deal with these problems.|- the gas geysers were not working so no hot water.|- No 24 h electricity supply, diesel generator switched off at night.||Food: Subpar and Insufficient|- The food was not good at all.. and not enough for our group|- Food was not great - Manager and staff cooking themselves after cook quit or was fired. They did the best they could but resort should have had outside caterer to better meet our needs||Staff & Management: Unprepared and Overwhelmed|- it was obvious that there were staffing problems at the resort - only four or five staff were left to look after the whole resort - they managed without moaning but were clearly over stretched|- The staff was totally unprepared for such a large group so it was a bit chaotic||Location: Added Inconvenience|- Resort is located in forest, u need to reach resort by jeep, normally it costs extra to reach resort by jeep but it was free for our group but still it was an issue as we had to travel in jeep for almost half an hour. Location is amazing and u are in the middle of nature but that also could not compensate for the issues we faced.||Ambiance & Views: Pleasant, Yet Not Enough|- The view and the ambiance was nice, specially in the morning view was very beautiful.. but these are few and far between to cover up the many problems we faced..||Bright Spot: The Trek and Staff Effort|- Morning trek and natural pool are the only 2 good things about the stay|- the rooms were nice a little pricey for what you get|- The staff member who went with us on the trek, and then hurried back to start breakfast service. Her dedication was commendable. ||Lastly, Blue Ginger Resort at Vythiri is a place that might have been great in its earlier years but now it is a reflection of bad management and neglect. I would not recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a pleasant and...
Read moreOur recent visit to Blue Ginger resort was less than ideal. It seems like the resort had a beautiful and regal past but it is best left to its glory days than to visit now.
Firstly the resort is located five to six km inside the forest and we have to take a four wheeler or a jeep to reach there. The jeep charges are extra. Even though it was covered for us it is something others have to keep in mind.
When we reached we felt that the resort hasn't been visited much as the places like the pathways, the pool chair and even the badminton court were filled with leaves, algae and grime.
The children who were so excited to jump headfirst into the pool at first instance were extremely disappointed to see the pool wasn't even 1/4th full. They said they couldnt speed the process up as it was filling naturally. We had specifically asked for the pools since the resort advertised two pools and a natural pond.
One of the pools were completely destroyed and even the natural pool which could have reimagined the resort, was unkept and filled with leaves.
It was evident that the resort was having staffing issues when the staff and the manager himself has to make us food, as the chef had quit or was let go. Even though the effort was appreciated they could have arranged for some catering from outside as the food they provided was inadequate and mediocre.
The rooms were surprisingly clean, however many rooms faced issues with plumbing. Many didn't have good water flow and that affected the flushing of the toilets.
Gas geysers were not working and we didn't get hot water. There were no plumber or equipped staff to deal with the issues. They also switched off the diesel generators at night and there was no continuous electricity supply.
The only redeeming qualities of the resort was the morning trek through the forest, and the refreshing bath in the natural pond/waterfall. The morning view of the forest and fresh air, quiet and serene sunrise was memorable.
Special mention to the staff who came to guide us on the trek and returned to do her part on the breakfast service.
Even though we were a large group & the management left only four or five staff to deal with the handicapped resort, they did their best with the available resources with a smile.
Inshort, this is a place that might have been great in its earlier years but now it is a reflection of bad management and neglect. I would never recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a pleasant and...
Read moreBlue Ginger Resort is located at a wonderful location in Waynad. Its pure nature all around you, a perfect getaway from the busy city life. Me and my wife wanted a quite getaway for our anniversary and after searching around on the internet zeroed on Blue Ginger Resort. Getting to Wayanad was easy, roads are in superb condition (From Bangalore). Its just that last part of searching for the resort in Wayanad took us some time. There are not many sign boards on the way that would have make the search easier. Any one planning to travel here please follow the boards for Vythiri Resort that's put over all over the place. The last 4 km was tricky and up hill. For one km there is mud road and then for the rest 3 km there is the concrete road. The Hotel management expressed there helplessness for the one km mud road since there do not own that part of the property and hence no road can be laid. The remaining 3 km concrete road was in a clean shape but the ride itself was scary. Just hope no vehicle is coming opposite to you while you are driving in that 3/4 km stretch. Thank god it was not raining else the ride would have been even more difficult. The camp fire was set up around 7:00 pm with music. Dinner was served at around 8:30. The food was good. The staff were friendly and attended to your needs immediate. There is a nature pool just next to the cottages, a perfect place to play in water and have some fun. The Ginger pool did not have a changing room and I also felt the location of the pool was odd. The cascade pool was under maintenance and so we could not have the pleasure of having a swim in the resort. Wish they had some hammock near the badminton court, relaxing there on a hammock would be great. There is a spa in the resort but its on demand and hence you need to book a day ahead for them to make the arrangements. The prices for the spa treatment...
