I have stayed here from 22-23 January with family and friends. Ambience of the room and the common spaces was good but the disappointing part of the stay was the food. When the bill was presented, to our utter shock, they claimed to have served us 2 kilos of barbecued chicken and 4 kilos of barbecued vegetables! (Quantity of Chicken didn't seem like of 2 kilos and the Paneer was so thin that even road side eateries provide bigger sized paneer tikkas!). Each lime tea was costing Rs. 40! The rice used for making steamed rice seemed to be of inferior quality. Items served on platters were considered in terms of plates while billing, of which we had no idea earlier. The item-wise costs, which were said to be recently revised, seemd to be highly exaggerated and it should have been shared with us before taking the orders. Read moreRatapani was and exciting and wonderful place to visit - the magic started at the entrance with a long drive in jeeps brings you to another world - a place apart. The place is so authentic and quiet. The rooms are comfortable with open fires -giving a pleasant and cosy atmosphere. I especially liked the outdoor showers. The food was excellent and suited all us European Indian food lovers. In the evening we gathered around a large open bonfire, drinks in hand and ever eager staff ready to refill - very pleasant and one could get used to it. We were entertained later on by group of local villagers who came out of the dark and performed amazing dancing that enthralled us. This is a place worth visiting and experiencing - if you like the outdoors and rural India I can highly recommend Ratapani...
Read moreI dont know why the government has not promoted this location while the rest house and other facilities are good and the management is very cooperative and nice. We could not spot tigers though but we did see some Deers (a baby deer and a group of four), Sambar Deer, wild pigs, peacock and many monkeys. Sadly we also could not spot any crocodiles while the river passing from the forest is densely croc infested. The reason could be because we went in the summer but the best time to visit according to the caretakers and forest officials is between Nov to Jan. If you are in Bhopal and you want to spend a night in a quiet natural location this is...
