MASAI - Tented Villa Resort, Lonavala — Hotel in Maharashtra

We recently stayed at Tembo, listed as a Royal Tented Villa with a Private Pool at Masai Lonavala, for which we paid ₹49,560 (inclusive of taxes) for 3 adults and 1 infant. Given the price point and the property’s classification as a 5 star luxury stay, we had high expectations unfortunately, our experience did not meet them.

To begin with, there is no WiFi installed on the property. Instead, we were provided with mobile hotspot connections from the staff’s personal devices, which was neither convenient nor reliable. The TV unit had no TV installed, and the bookshelf was completely empty, which gave the impression that key amenities were either overlooked or not maintained.

Once it got dark and we turned on the lights in the tent, a large number of insects were drawn to the light, which was extremely uncomfortable especially since we were traveling with an infant. The washrooms had multiple unusually large lizards, making it extremely difficult to use them, particularly for families. We do understand the property’s setting in a jungle like environment, but we strongly recommend installing insect-repellent machines or mosquito zappers to improve comfort and hygiene.

The food options were limited, and there appeared to be very few kitchen staff, leading to delays and a lack of variety. For a luxury resort, better food service and prompt hospitality are essential.

Due to all these issues, especially the infestation concerns and the discomfort for our infant, we had no choice but to check out the same night around 11 PM, cutting our trip short.

Masai Lonavala is beautifully located and has the potential to offer a truly premium experience but attention to detail, proper maintenance, and basic 5 star amenities must be prioritized. We hope the management takes this feedback constructively and brings the necessary improvements for...

We had booked masai through reference, the whole experience turned out to be amazing for our family.

The co ordination with rupesh on WhatsApp was seamless., got all the queries cleared.

The check in was smooth, the welcome drink as refreshing, the staff was polite and welcoming.

The rooms were esthetically designed, we just loved it, they also decorated the room for the birthday celebration with banner, balloons and cake, would like to thank the team for this .

the private pool is the highlight, kids had fun. Food was amazing, we requested for customized meals for the kids, which the kids loved.

Network is not strong, but they provide spare phone to use hotspot which was enough to use basic internet. No TV in the room but it completely makes sense when you stay...

Service was fantastic, had asked for a medicine which was little urgent.. they arranged it somehow. Would like to thank Mr. Das for the same.

They went extra mile to make us feel special for our anniversary, by decorating the room and the cake was amazing.
