I stayed at The Royal Pavilion, Kolhapur, for a 3-night, 4-day vacation and had a mixed experience.
Room & Cleanliness: We booked a suite, and I must say the room was spacious, clean, and very well-lit. All standard amenities were available and maintained. Cleanliness was good throughout our stay.
Staff & Service: Unfortunately, the staff service was highly disappointing. Barring one courteous and helpful young man at the reception, the rest of the staff seemed completely unaware of basic hotel policies and services. They could not explain what was included in the complimentary lunch/dinner package. Every time we inquired, they looked at each other blankly, making us feel like we made a mistake by choosing that package.
To be clear , for all four days, the complimentary meal consisted of the same veg thali (same items daily, not even a variety in sabji, all sabjis excatly the same) and non-veg thali (either chicken or mutton, again, same items each time no variety in taste). There were no options or variety whatsoever. I strongly recommend against opting for their meal package.
Even basic requests like getting water to the room were a challenge. Despite calling three times, and being assured that water will be sent in 10 mins, even after an hour we didnt receive water in our room. Only after calling the reception directly did we received the water that too just one 500ml bottle. At around 5 PM one evening, when we requested two cups of tea, we were told they couldn’t serve it because the chef wasn’t available.
To make things more difficult, most of the staff did not understand Hindi properly and had absoluteley no clue about Marathi, leading to constant miscommunication and confusion.
Food: On the positive side, the food was tasty, and breakfast was decent. But again, the lack of variety and poor communication diminished the overall dining experience.
Ambience & Location: There isn’t much of an ambience. The hotel is located within the city, surrounded by buildings, a main road, and some open space. It's more of a functional location than a relaxing getaway.
Overall: There was no standout experience during our stay. I would not recommend this hotel for long vacations or if you’re looking for a relaxing, service-oriented stay. It’s better suited for short visits, perhaps a one-night or two-day stay, where you won’t rely heavily on their...
Read moreI stayed here for a day while traveling from Bangalore to Mumbai.
The stay was excellent overall and I now have a recommended place to stay if I ever have to take a halt in Kolhapur.
They have an underground parking for two and four wheelers which is gated and have guards. The parking also has a lift to directly access the lobby and room floors.
The Checkin was smooth and the staff was helpful in bringing in the luggage to the room.
Coming to the room, the room was quite spacious with all required toiletries. The bathroom was a bit small but served the purpose. Had both hot and cold water for 24 hours. The room has a centralised AC with temperature control for each room which worked great in the Summer Afternoon. You also get a tea kettle with all required items for making tea and coffee. The bed was perfect with a mattress which was neither hard nor soft which I really liked. I have been to high end hotels which had a very soft mattress which caused back pain.
The restaurant attached to the Hotel was also very nice. Even though the price was a little upwards but I am happy paying for it as it was tasty. They also serve breakfast from 7.30 AM.
Overall the location was nice away from traffic one which I liked. I would highly recommend this for people who want a comfortable stay for...
