Edited down to 1* due to misleading response from property management 🙄

We stayed 3 nights which in hindsight was too long because while the delux tent is well-maintained, clean and cosy, the location is right above the noisy, busy and dusty road, and as such we had very disturbed sleep from the constant loud truck noises, tooting / beeping and screeching breaks which seemed to go on throughout the night and into the early hours. Especially loud as no walls only canvas! This was a massive drawback. The sandy green dust kicked up by the road is something else too, and coats everything and everywhere including our lungs no doubt! Very sneezy! So it definitely didn’t turn out to be quite the peaceful ‘retreat’ hoped for. The staff really need training in hospitality too - as the welcome was lacklustre at best, and the information provided was minimal. It was like getting blood from a stone. The food is fine - although pretty limited for vegetarians.

The swimming pool was out of action during our stay, which would have been good to be made aware of before us booking! But courteousness and, as above, forthcoming information is not their strong point or forte!

The lake / general area is however amazing and there is really great walking / hiking / trekking as soon as you get off the the busy main road. There seems to be resorts and places to stay everywhere around there, and so if we came back we would definitely opt not to stay back here, but somewhere hopefully quieter, with a working pool, and of a more hospitable ilk.

So to sum it up - an overpriced stay for the facilities available, the lack of sleep and peace due to the road traffic noise is a huge negative, along with the sandy dust, and the...

Booked for stay last night for triple occupancy, me and my parents 65 and 60 - reached around 7:40pm after a full day drive from Sighseeing in Cherrapunji to find out the cottage allotted to us C 3 is located at the top with a steep slope to climb. This wasn't mentioned anywhere while booking. The way up is so steep you will slip and fall if it's raining, all this when there is a ramp for vehicle to go until there but they won't allow. |The rooms have bamboo flooring which has protruding nails, you will end up hurting yourself if you walk barefoot.Theh don't have yellow Dal only Chana dal which is absurd but i was okay wigh nkt orderkng dal. Dinner was delivered 30 minutes later than the promised time..only saving grace was the taste..it was good. They said breakfast will be available from 8:30 am we reached around 8:45 as my parents had to take their bp and sugar medicines bug we were made to wait for another 30 mins and then started coming 4 slices of toast for almost 10 people gathered. Only one item for eggeatarians - omplette and one for veg- watery Aloo Sabji and oily pooris. They will not even give jam if you ask for it.|Not worth the money not...

The service is worst... They have included the breakfast with the package and aren't providing the breakfast.. and the cleanliness and ambiance is not as the same in images.. the tent houses are torn off.. Service would be rated below 1 if there was an option and for breakfast they started coming 4 slices of toast for almost 8 people gathered. We came around 8 am and still waiting upon for the morning breakfast... And on one day after taking our hotel bookings too.. they shifted us to an another hotel without any prior notice to us as they had received more bookings offline.. we are waiting at their lobby at 9.30pm in the night after a overall journey of 16 hrs and getting to know our rooms are not in the place we booked... we had to wait so the manager could have a leisure Dinner of half an hour to update and send us the other hotel for checkin and waited another half an hour to receive the payment confirmation.. pls dont handle the crowd if you cant.. This was a ruining vacation on the stay for about 3 days booking... Not worth the money not...

We had a great weekend at Roinam. It's a beautiful Nature resort with tall trees and lots of greenery. The cottage we stayed was well equipped and very neat. We ordered extra bed which was immediately provided to us. Food was tasty and all the meals we could order from room service except for breakfast which is served down stairs. This resort is just next to the Umiam lake that's why you get a lovely view from the cottage balcony. The Nehru Park is just 5 min away by car and a great spot for evening walk and photography. We also had a great swim in the infinity pool which has a small jacuzzi attached. You can have pool side snacks as well.. This is a good time to spend at the resort and a gateway from an otherwise humid summer. Shillong is just 45 minutes away. Overal a great experience for me and my family. Thanks to the staff for making our stay comfortable and happy 😊.

Roinam Retreat was hands down one of the most unique and peaceful stays I’ve ever had. Tucked right near Umiam Lake, the property offers a stunning, one-of-a-kind view. At night, the cool, windy breeze paired with the sound of gentle waves from the lake created the most calming vibe — something you just have to experience to believe. The staff were extremely polite and helpful throughout. I wish I remembered his name, but one guy went above and beyond — I casually mentioned my car was dirty after a non-stop 900 km drive from Bihar, and he actually washed it for me without hesitation. That kind of thoughtfulness really stood out and made the stay even more memorable. The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, and perfect if you’re looking to disconnect and enjoy nature. Loved every bit of my time here — will definitely return on my next trip to Shillong
