Warning:
If you're looking for a place to waste your hard earned money.. This is the place!!
Like one of the previous reviews mentioned, "All the Glitters is not Gold," the East India House is a Classic example of the quote!
It is with a sense of disappointment and frustration that I recount my recent stay at East India House, an establishment that seemingly sparkles on social media but proves to be a significant letdown in reality.
Definitely enticing and luring you with its ambience on their Instagram Pages and Paid reels, what this place lacks is the basics of the hospitality industry, "GUEST SERVICE" and they are brilliantly incompetent in providing the guest service.
Promising you a specific thing over call and then falling back on their words.
Personal Experience whilst CHECK-IN
I had specifically requested for a Lower Deck and had been promised the same, however, on reaching there, I was told that all the lower decks were booked, which was clearly a lie!
They provided us rooms on the Upper Deck, when we checked-in and found them uncomfortable and inconvenient, we confronted them about the promise that was made to us on the phone, but the were initially in denial of the same and rather has a counter argument, "WHY DID YOU CHECK-IN THIS ROOM, NOW WE WILL HAVE TO CLEAN IT AGAIN! SINCE YOU'VE USED THIS ROOM, WE CAN'T CHANGE IT!"
After a lot of persuasion and making multiple requests and speaking about my inconvenience in climbing the stairs to the upper deck due to my pregnancy, they gave us 1 out of 2 rooms on the lower deck.
Management
Mr Jude, the so called Manager of the hotel had knowledge less than that of a Hospitality Management Student or an Intern. He lacked the skill to take ownership, definitely was a Zero when it came to Interpersonal Skills. Never had a smiling face and was rather always in a defensive mode!
Food The total amount you pay is inclusive of all your meals. The taste of the food was fair however, they served food in portions you'd serve a crow!! And to get more food we had to request and wait we finally lost our appetite and give up on waiting!
We ordered some French fries and a Sandwich for the À la carte menu, and that was served to us cold. We had to request them to reheat it!
The À la carte menu had seemed to have vast options, but when requested them to get one of the dishes in the menu, they didn't have it!!
During Lunch, we requested for the bar menu, their staff assured us to get one and never arrived.
During dinner, we requested them to get the food menu, that as well which was assured to arrive but never did! The dinner was was unpalatable and awful.
Rooms
The rooms are that of the size of a match box. If you're booking a room on triple occupancy basis, the 3 person has to been shoved in a small corner of the the Match Box.
Pets
We were charged ₹1500 to get our pet which absolutely no open space for the pet to roam around.
Overall rating:
Ambience: 4/5 Service: 0/5 (or definitely in negative/ Management: 0/5 Food: 2/5 Food Portion Size: 1/5 Room Size: 1/5 Convenience for pets: 0/5
Conclusion: East India House, while visually appealing on the surface, falls woefully short in delivering the promised guest experience. From misleading assurances during check-in to subpar management and culinary disappointments, the establishment leaves much to be desired for those seeking a...
Read moreOverall the place is good. Location is not the best being in vicinity of a dump yard and the approach is a little difficult being far away from the station. But that being said, this boutique hotel is definitely worth a visit for its beautiful views and cleanliness. Its surrounded by greenery and the owner Mr. Jitesh Parikh is a very sweet person. The food was good with some dishes being a hit and some being a miss. They were polite enough to let us customise the menu to suit our taste as we had 5 rooms of the 10 available booked for ourselves. The ravioli was not done and it had a sweet sauce which they seemed to have dumped from the Malai Kofta which was also in the dinner menu. The second day of our stay, meal service had absolutely no servers during the dinner time. I would rate the food a 6/10. Breakfast menu lacks continental options but is good with the Indian options that they have. The cheesecake for dessert had absolutely no cream cheese but was rather just a pastry with a lot of cream which was again a huge disappointment. Paneer dishes were good but the pasta was lacking salt and was tasting sweet with no veggies. The soups and starters across all meals were a delight. Paneer and potato fritters during evening snacks were bland and despite repeated requests lacked spices and flavour, only the onion fritters were on fleek. Drinks were missing across all meals but upon request they were kind enough to make us a sweet lime soda for one meal. Mr. Dinesh the manager had a service with a smile and was there to help at every point. They have live music on weekends which was something we really enjoyed and they were kind enough to invite Mr. Umair Sayyd the singer who sang really nicely on Monday as well. They do not have a lot of activities or indoor games but a small patch of green wherein you can enjoy with a frisbee or just sit and relax. The lounge chairs by the pool were also a great addition to sit and enjoy the greenery during dusk and dawn. The pool is good and enjoyable but half of it is clean while the other half is covered in algae. Rooms are of a good size for 2 people and lower deck rooms have a little balcony to sit and enjoy morning tea while upper rooms have a good view of the pool and greenery. Bathrooms are decently sized and clean with well stacked toiletries. Room service is slow and needs improvement. Clean towels were provided as and when asked for and rooms and bathrooms were promptly cleaned upon request too. They are also constructing a villa on their property which has good views and in the next couple of months should be a good place to stay over a weekend. Overall I would love to visit this property again with family and book the boutique hotel all out, but the few misses here and there are something that they really need to work on. A final rating of 7.5/10 would mean this place is worth a visit but I hope they work on the...
Read moreExtremely Disappointed with the Unprofessional Service – East India House
I had booked a stay at East India House on 15th July for 26th July, speaking directly to a representative named Tejas over the phone. I was quoted a steep tariff of ₹16,300, which is comparable to a 5-star property. Despite this, I proceeded and paid an advance of ₹7,500, with a confirmation received over WhatsApp. They also asked for my email to send the official booking confirmation, but no such email was ever sent.
On the day of check-in, due to the lack of confirmation, I reached out via phone and WhatsApp. That’s when a series of excuses started: “the property is under maintenance,” “the AC isn’t working,” “we’ve had power outages since last night.”
I asked two simple questions:
Why wasn't an email confirmation sent after taking the advance?
If there was a problem with the property, why wasn’t I informed in advance?
This stay was booked for a special occasion, and I was transparent in asking them if they had double-booked or taken a higher-paying guest — just be honest. But instead of being apologetic, the manager, Shashank, was rude and dismissive, insisting it was a maintenance issue.
When I said I lived nearby and could personally come and check the property, suddenly he said, “let me get back.” An hour and several ignored calls later, I received a careless message saying, “you can come.” When I called back, he spoke as though he was doing me a favour for allowing a guest who was ready to pay ₹16K.
I eventually cancelled the booking. It’s disheartening, especially since I was genuinely looking forward to experiencing the place based on their social media presence. But no aesthetics or Instagram reel can compensate for the lack of basic professionalism, courtesy, and honesty — all of which are fundamental to the hospitality industry.
If you're planning something special, I’d advise you to be cautious. Good customer service is non-negotiable, especially at this...
