THIS HOTEL IS DANGEROUS. SEXUAL PREDATORS, FINANCIAL SWINDLERS AND DANGEROUS MEN! I had arrived by myself at night, due to the long drive from Mumbai airport, a female traveler, because my travel partner got sick and went home. Upon arrival, I'm an American, I gave them my Yatra booking and passport and signed their tourist book. During this process I smoked a cigarette and when finished went to the room provided. Room was small, musty, moldy and locked with an old-school padlock, which they gave me the key. After I placed my things I met up with some local girls and we walked on the beach. The staff called for me on the beach and when I spoke with the owner he lied and told me I cannot stay there and I must leave. I asked why and they said they do not accept solo females and the police came because they have a solo female on the property. This is not stated anywhere on their site or in the Yatra booking and no police were ever seen in the area. I told them this. Then the owner Mr. Fonseca lied again and said my Yatra booking was not correct and the payment never went through. Which is false according to Yatra and my bank records. I explained this to him. (ALSO THEY CHARGE DIFF. RATES TO EVERYONE)Then he lied again and said the room wasn't ready...even though I had already checked into it. The staff kept insisting it was too dangerous to stay there alone and I must leave right away. (Even though this is their property...are they the attackers?) At this point it was getting dangerous with him and his staff encircling me and demanding I leave immediately...at 10pm at night...in the jungle....on foot.... luckily the local girls stepped in and negotiated me to stay the night and leave with them in the morning. Explaining to the insane hotel manager it is far more dangerous to send me out alone at night than to leave with them in the morning. I had a 4 day pre-paid booking here...SCREW THIS PLACE. As an American I am not sure what exactly happened as I literally did nothing inappropriate and was only there for an hour before all this started. The girls said the cigarette was most likely the culprit of the drug addict accusations because "women don't smoke here." THIS PLACE BILLS ITSELF AS A TOURIST RESORT-TOURISTS SMOKE! These people definitely did NOT have experience with tourists and looked like they had never seen a blonde American before with tattoos. I wish it ended here- I prepare to settle in for the night as you cannot be on the beach alone past dark because it is DANGEROUS. I am in my room with the padlock and about an hour later I hear someone trying to get into my room by shimming the lock. I turn the lights on and make noise and the shimming stopped. 20 minutes go by and I walk toward the door and put my ear on it and can hear someone breathing on the other side of my door. I leave the lights on. About 30 minutes pass again and I hear the shimming start again. I make noise again to let it be known I am awake and 20 minutes after that I check the door again and hear nothing. Definitely did not sleep that night. Morning comes and Mr. Fonseca said he needs to scan my passport again and is blocking our Tuk-Tuk. I hand him my passport and then he demands money for the night stayed- at this point I'm PISSED and have had enough. I start going off on him explaining he already got paid through Yatra and is screwing me out of 3 days of stay and I absolutely will not be paying him one more Rupee. HE TRIES TO WITHHOLD MY PASSPORT and I grab it out of his hands, jump in the tuk-tuk with the girls and we drive off to catch the ferry on the backside of Gorai. No, this is not a story. This is real and was very scary and had it not been for those wonderful local females to help me I am SURE I would have ended up in the jungle alone or raped or worse because of this...
Read moreSo we travelled from internal Mumbai to this specific place as it is a beautiful Sea-facing resort. So there were certainly ups and downs in the system. So we will go one by one.
Food: Food being the most important category it was great when it was ordered there in the Resort. The food prepared by them was delicious and great (Veg and Non-veg both). The seafood was delicious. The quantity which was provided was enough for a maximum of 3 people (Depends on how many things you order). However, one thing you need to make sure of is to carry all the packaged foodstuff from outside, e.g.: the cold drink worth Rs. 40/- will be sold to you at the rate of Rs.60/- which in case you will have to pay extra and also for certain chips packets and plastic glasses the rates are much higher. So make sure to take snacks, glasses, cold drinks and sodas in a count of kgs and litres before reaching the resort.
Pool: People can only access the pool between certain hours. The people staying in the cottages around the Fonseca can use it. There is no privacy option as such on the pool. Before entering the pool there was no shower option as such but the pool was a bit clean as compared to the conditions around.
Rooms: First, when we arrived at the place the booking times are strictly mentioned. However as we followed and made sure to reach on time, the party who rented the room earlier left after 2 hours. We were allotted another room for some time to relax. The rooms were small and the ceiling was very much low in height and the AC too was at a low position which in case was trouble to walk past. The rooms did not have side tables. It only had one single huge table. The washrooms did not have jets and also the shower was only provided with normal water and there was no bath towel. Each room should have been provided with a broom at least keep out of sea-sand which also attracted many mosquitos. AC at a certain time of the night went out and was fluctuating.
Services: The food was provided at the door, so great service; however we had an issue with the mattress. The beds in the bedrooms were able to accommodate 2 people at a time and as we were 5 people a mattress was not provided. We tried reaching the reception, but the reception was closed around 12-AM and there was nothing mentioned, we contacted them the next day they mentioned if you need any services beyond that time you will have to contact them by phone. There are no water refills or kitchen to access for water, if you are out of water, you will have to buy packaged water from them.
So as mentioned above are some of the concerns which might affect you and some positive information for you and feedback for the...

Swimming pool can be used if the floating dirt is cleared.|Room: They don't have hot water supply by tap in room but they do supply a bucket filled with hot water per person and on demand.. so its okay.|Its observed that the room rates are not standard, it differs customer to customer.|I checked 4 rooms but latch wasnt working for bathroom for 3. I think that is a big odd, looks like management to take interest in regular and required maintenance.|The ceiling fan speed regulator control was not working. The fan can run in full speed or can be stopped. I was lucky that the climate was pleasant that can sleep easily without switching on fan. |Cleanliness was okay. But the bedsheet and pillow covers need to be washed on regular basis.|There was no mirror in the bathroom, instead mirror is fitted in the main room (not a best place to fit a mirror). |Overall its okay to stay, considering the connectivity, location of the property, close by to Essel World /Water Kingdom / Bird Park. Also Gorai Beach is a step away from...
