Read moreWe stayed 2 nights this week in Dec 2023 at the Bhitarnika Eco Resort with family .Overall experience was above my expectation ( considering this as a remote place ) The package included a room , 3 meals , tickets to boat safari and some small excursions near the property. I ll cover some main topics :
Place And property : The beauty of Bhitarkarnika is that its a bit remote however there are no issues with road condition approaching this property at all. You need to be humble with your expectations when it comes to staying inside a remote national park. People who don't like unexpected adventures or with sick family member should be aware of this.Medical emergency or general luxury is a bit far from the place as such specially after dark.
Rooms - I preferred to stay in the rooms which although looks very basic in the pictures from outside but they were very clean and cozy inside. Bathroom , blankets , bedsheets ect were fresh and clean which is the most imp thing for me. 3 adults + 1 kid can stay in one room. ( 2+1 bed )
Food: Being bengali we had a great time with the food they prepared for our us. ( Fish , chicken and veg) . They did allowed some customization and also catered a bit of my child's tantrums with food which was a bit unexpected . Breakfast was great too with a lot options.
Staff: Mr Jagabandhu and Co. Who took care of us scored the most points for the hospitality and service. Very helpful, friendly and flexible staff who were ready to help all the time.
Boat ride : This would be one of the best wildlife sightings I ever had sitting on a boat. Boating point Just 5 mins from the property and everything was ready for us when we arrived. These are slow moving 20seater motorboats which moves very slowly and goes about 5-6 km inside the mangrove forest and come back same way. I had my 5 yrs old and 68 yr old mother with me and everything went smooth , thanks to the people assisting us however people who have issue with climbing stairs or boat ladder will be uncomfortable. There is no wheelchair acesss. We saw about 50 + salt water crocs and some of them are really big like 16ft +. A lots of different migratory birds , kingfishers , monitor lizards, snakes ect. One can buy tickets to the boat and get a guide on the spot easily from the boating station if thats not in your package.
Nature walk: The boat stops at a place where you go and take a walk inside the jungle about 6 km ( round trip with guide) we saw deers, monitor lizards and various birds ect but in general I feel it's not to be missed as it's a serene place with very distinct vegetation , flowers and plants you don't see in...
We choose this place after a recommendation from a travel guide. I seriously doubt the credibility of the internet rating. We charged for 20k for 2night stay on the Christmas eve. The overall experience was pathetic. Pure vegetarian please think twice before you go. My wife was serve with meat piece in the chilly paneer (interestingly there was no meat item during the lunch).
Cleanliness : The site fill with plastic packet. The stray dogs are getting into your room and food. They are not even vaccinated. Inside room cleanliness is OK. Plates, glass and kitchens are not at all clean. I saw food are kept on floor uncover. Serving glasses are kept in full of dust place.
Comfort : Beds are too hard. There was power cut constantly. Even with DG, they were not using or may be trying to save some money. The price of 10000 per night was no logic for such facilities.
Service, Taste etc.: The staffs are not all professional. We saw one of the staff was using the toilet of a Swiss cottage toilet for cleaning own clothes while the people were out on a day trip 😳 The cleaning staff has no manner (make noise during sleeping hours, dragging the chairs in front of the rooms). The food was standard and NOT at all tasty. In fact I would recommend a local small eat out place (belong to the Sarpanch) right next to the boating area is really tasty, cheap and well mannered. For the private boat trip the resort asked for additional 4000rs where the actual cost is 3000rs including a guide for 4hrs tour. I checked with other hotel visitors and for them the price was inclusive as a package for total 7000rs per night for a big family.
After 1 night stay we decided to left the place. They charged 20000rs for 2night stay for 2 adults and a child. We told the owner for the refund during the 1st night itself. What a waste of money. They are not paying back. It is unfortunate that I paid...
