Ginger Kalinganagar — Hotel in Odisha

Editing this review after one year. As I mentioned earlier that the hotel was new, so everything was fine. This time (Jan '24), the signs of deterioration was felt very clearly. I have already said earlier that the room and bathroom are excessively small. This time I found that the linen was absolutely dirty. I called house keeping people at 10:30 PM, and they tried for half an hour, but could not provide a clean bedsheet and blanket cover. The food is awful. Breakfast is just OK, but when we entered during the lunch time, we just had to leave the dining room after seeing the menu card, pick up the car and go to a nearby restaurant. It was a working day. We were in the steel plant, and went there for a quick light lunch, and they did not have plain food like rice/dal/sabji, etc. All they had was like pizza, burger, chilly chicken, etc., which at least I cannot take at lunch. And the price was also exorbitant.

Anyway, Ginger is under contract with our company. So, next time also I may have to stay there only. But I shall definitely go out for lunch / dinner.

It is a new hotel. So, everything, like furniture, bathroom fittings, electricals, AC, etc. are in good condition. Room is less spacious, but OK for a budget business hotel. Bathroom is too small, with almost no space for keeping the soap, shampoo, etc inside shower cubicle. But, anyway, overall just OK.

Coming to food. Expensive but nothing exclusive. Very limited options (I could not even get naan, which is a commonly available item in every restaurant). Very ordinary taste. Low quantity. Very high price. The hotel is located at such a spot that you will not find a single suitable eating place nearby or within walking distance. This hotel is exploiting that advantage to the maximum. Though the hotel tariff is not very high, they are maximizing their profit in food, as the guests have no choice. Complementary breakfast is just OK.

One more observation. I did not see a single hotel staff...

I was particularly impressed by the well-maintained condition of the rooms. The cleanliness and attention to detail were evident, creating a pleasant and inviting ambiance. The hotel staff clearly takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and ensuring a comfortable experience for all guests.
