We reached Moksh at 2pm with 2 families and kids to find a large rowdy group boozing in the common area, playing extremely loud music. This was a scene out of a Holi celebration, except that you have paid the resort for some quite personal space. Requested the owner (Shubhankar) to intervene, which he tried weakly, but the ruckus and din continued. He couldn't do anything as the group threatened to leave when he requested then to reduce the volume and be sober. Of course, his priority was getting his rooms full with the party group. Ensuring a decent experience for other guests didn't really matter.
The gentleman offered to refund at 3pm, but being a long weekend there were hardly any places to stay. So we could either go back to Gurgaon, or remain at Moksh. Not much of a choice.
It was the same situation at night, loud music playing and boozing gang causing ruckus till 2.30am. We felt like we were in a sleazy bar, with a drunk brawling crowd. The owner and manager we're conspicuously absent. I suppose having got the room rent in advance, they really didn't care.
Next morning finds the common lawns littered with beer and alcohol bottles, dirty tables and chairs, and nobody to clean it up till 10am. The photos you see posted are from 10am next morning.
Food service is extremely slow. There was just 1 person to handle everything, and this was on a weekend when resorts expect full occupancy.
The place is right next to a highway, you can hear trucks droning away all night. The washroom had a broken flush which they couldn't fix, no toilet paper, and there isn't even a reception to find someone to talk to. You just hang around and wait for someone to show up. The facilities mentioned on GoIbibo, holiday etc do not exist.
I have travelled a lot, and stayed at a lot of interesting places, big, small, cheap and expensive, in the city and in nature. All of them had one thing, that the owner had an interest in ensuring the guests have a decent experience. It took my stay at Moksh, Alwar, to find an exception.
I expect the owner to defend the poor service, the loud music, and drunken revelry as good, relaxing fun. Sadly I can't upload the video I had taken, but the photos of the mess (posted here) the morning after speak for themselves. The place is very poor value, it's a rip off at 3500 a night. And it's very poorly run and maintained to boot....
Read moreThe initial look of the premises and the facilities looks decent. However, it ends there. Our bad experience started the moment we reached there.
I had a word with Mr. Banerjee over phone on 26 March for our requirement for 27 March. He agreed to provide three rooms, including breakfast and taxes, at a certain rate. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and increase in cases in Rajasthan, we were not willing to prepay the booking amount. This was communicated to Mr. Banerjee. He represented that the property will be totally sold out by the time we reach if we did not go for the advance booking.
Anyways, we reached without the advance booking and found us to be the only ones in the property. I called up Mr. Banerjee and informed him of our arrival. For the purpose of reconfirming, I mentioned the rates quoted by him. He immediate raised the quoted rates by 25%. Anyways, although not the best way to start with, I agreed.
The rooms visibly were okay (super deluxe as was mentioned by the Manager). However, there were visible signs of lack of maintenance. The washrooms were no good, even the buckets were not washed and seemed not in use for months. Did not try the television during the stay but the air-conditioning (in-room) worked well.
We ordered lunch and was told it would be served well in time for us to reach for the Safari scheduled from 2.30 P.M. However, it was just the other way round. Only two of the main course dishes was served and not three ordered. No regrets and no communication whatsoever from the Moksh Team. It takes them hell lot of time even to serve aerated drinks and tea and requires multiple reminders. A big let down!!!! Complete lack of housekeeping. Even the plates (disposable ones, no standard cutlery provided by the property), are not cleaned. The result, the strays....multiple ones actually, does a mess with the leftovers. Not a great sight when you wake up in the morning to take a stroll in the lawn.
There is complete lack of coordination and management in this property. Some additional money does not make much of a difference but a bad stay surely does. Ours was one of the worst stays ever. The property, with good lawns, and some onsite activity, could be maintained in a much better manner. Sadly this...
Read moreMOKSHA SARISKA is a quiet and serene resort at the backdrop of Aravalli hills. Its location being at a foothill gives impressions of a valley at the expanse of nature. The place is great to hangout with friends and enjoy the minimalistic living. The rooms are created as separate cottages having brick-finish walls with bamboo-shed or Tin-shed roofing giving a feeling of countryside dwelling. The menu on the offer is quite simple with ordinary preparation.
In case you opt for Moksha make sure you include all 3 meals in the package as this place is 17km away from the city and quite far from any good restaurant.
This place is good for family stay however I would not recommend this place for high-maintenance families if your wife/kids prefer a high standard washroom, crystal clear swimming pool, elaborate buffets and hotel-like stay. This place is 'close to nature' and 'far abode' specifically for people who want Technological Detox and just a good time together in greens.
I have shared photos to explain the place in a jist.
Do not expect high end cleanliness, sumptuous elaborate cuisines and machine-cleaned swimming pool. However this place offers some great PAID options like Exclusive bonfire, barbeque set up, self-cooking setup and Music system set up at a very very reasonable price (refer menu pic).
Although the Gym facilities are dysfunctional however one can enjoy outdoor games like rope trekking games, swings, volleyball, badminton and cricket provided in the expansive ground.
At night the whole place is lit brightly with good lighting that gives you a private farm house like feel alongside mornings with a breath of fresh air.
My final recommendation would be to book this place when the weather is not too hot and humid as the scorching sun might play spoil-sport, consuming most of your day confining you to your rooms.
My suggestion to MOKSHA SARISKA would be to gear up their hospitality and add more finesse to the place. The place has a great potential to be the best outing space around Alwar (within 200km of Delhi) but with the lagging intent and complacent vision the place ends up as a resort which is mediocre at best.
My rating is 3.5 stars out of 5 (0.5 extra for the latent potential this place...
