Having been in a desert region for the first time is an experience in itself and probably nothing can beat that. Moreover, while moving from the Northern Plains towards the extreme western point while witnessing the gradual change in the landscape makes one left awestruck. The diversity of our country is undoubtedly something magical. Reaching the actual sand dunes was also a good experience since the jeep safari can well be compared to the world's best roller coaster ride! The height and depth of the dunes creates a natural entertainment park! Reaching the common point amidst the desert brings out a picture-perfect location barring a few things. Too much of commercialization of the place and a haphazard management make the place lose the charm it has. Too many adventure activities, roaring polluting vehicles, motorized noisy paragliding, kiosks selling food and drinks, people scattering everything, everywhere - these all have in a way killed the serenity and the calmness of the place. Nevertheless, if one is able to find a secluded spot and enjoy the beauty of the desert then hours can be spent in admiration. Looking at the expanse of sand, the dunes, and the sky feels like being on the horizon... the slow shift of colours of the sky as the sun starts setting seems almost like being in space. Probably, this visit can be perfected with more information and further exploration as to how to get to the real desert which might not be a...
Read moreWe (My Wife and I) went to the Samarth Desert Camp on 26th Jan’2023. We reached there at 4:00 PM, which was suggested to us as the ideal time for the check-in.||Our overall experience with the camp was not good. Below are few things which didn’t work for us||1) We were conned by the manager (named Salim) in the camp. Keeping safety and convenience in mind we decided to go with the jeep safari of the camp. We were charged Rs 5500/- by the manager and coordinator of the camp. We later got to know that the actual rate is around Rs 1500 /-. This was our first bad experience||2) Room was not clean. The blanket was dirty and so were the towels. No toiletries were provided with the room||3) The website boasts about arrangement of a “Cultural Function”. However it started at around 7:45 and went on till 9 PM. It was an ill planned exercise purely as a formality. There is not enough activities planned in the camp to keep yourself engaged in the camp. After certain point, we got bored||The only thing which worked for us in the camp was the food arrangement. Apart from that, it was a disappointing experience.||There are a lot of other better options in the same area you can consider...
