They try to provide a good experience. I think one's overall experience is a combination of a lot of small things. The service during high tea, dinner, breakfast was good. I remember one of the taller waiters being quite helpful and cooperative and accommodating during dinner when he got us the bill and breakfast. Even Hari Om served well and was helpful to our requests. Would definitely appreciate the hospitality, maintenance of the resort, planned activities, etc.

Some things that need to be improved:

  1. They should try to be more accomomodating to guests. We were about to check out when we saw them take out a red vintage car out of its case. When we asked if we could take a photo (from outside.. we did not even want to sit in it).. he first said okay.. but then said no.. it is not allowed.. that we need to pay INR 1200 for a single photo from the outside.. the car is there for display..not allowing the hotel guests to take a simple photo even from outside is rude. Many of the guests had already taken a photo with it when he was not there.. we were not asking to sit inside it.
  2. Communication between the reception/ front desk and housekeeping staff. We had checked in a bit late and had specifically asked for a 1 hour late check out at 12 pm instead of 11 am. He had said okay on call as that is the latest they can allow us to check out. We had agreed at 12 pm. The housekeeping staff knocked on our gate at 11:20 am asking why we hadn't checked out yet. That we need to check out quickly.
  3. They check your check out bill again at the main gate. There should be discreet comms beween the staff that the guest has completed the check out formalities. They don't need to check our bill while loading luggage in cab. Similarly, if they want to check our room to check if we ate anything in room that was chargeable, they need to do it discreetely. The staff asked me while I got out of the lift if I had left the keys in the room or not as they wanted to check. Again, most of the hotels check these things but are more discreet about it.
  4. Variety of food in dinner buffet. They should include more Rajasthani food (gatte curry, kadhi pakore) and navratre special food. Thanks.
  5. The shuttle needs to be more available. There is no driver available ever in the operated shuttles between the different mahal. As it is a lot of walk, the shuttle service needs to be more smooth.

A good ambience overall with folk dance in the late evening, a beautiful view from our room itself, tour of the castle.. but potential to improve these small...

Drivable Weekend getaways are the best options when you reach that stage of your life when stepping out of your houses for anything longer becomes a challenge for many reasons. And there are plenty of them that are mushrooming around now. However, what miyan and I always fancy, are the heritage properties. They are charming, they are distinct, they are class apart and there is something very authentic about them.

Recently we took a one night trip to the much talked about Tijara Fort Palace, Alwar. Must say, no amount of photographs can describe the beauty and grandeur of this place. Once unfinished and abandoned, it was taken up by Neemrana group of Hotels in 2016 and now is one of the most beautiful heritage hotels, where modern amenities effortlessly blend into the old world charm!

Beautiful interiors and gorgeous exteriors. Very well created and looked after. While the days are hot, the evenings are truly mesmerizing when the whole Fort lights up!! The spaciousness, the splendour, the intriguing quiteness, the romance, the breeze, the classical music, the walk post your dinner just makes it all perrrrfect!!

Each room has a story to tell and is a dedication to the many artists, painters, photographers, writers that were involved in its creations. Our room, for example, was dedicated to the ten year long friendship that MF Husain shared with his photographer Parthiv. Hence, the name “Parthiv-Husain Mahal.” You see their work everywhere In the room in the classic black and white!

Rooms are cosy, very well kept, comfortable and subtly done up. You have everything that you may need.

Infact, the neatness and the upkeep of the entire hotel is very impressive. It is aptly staffed and the service is top class. The staff is super attentive and courteous.

The food is Deeeelicious! Usually, the buffets disappoint but Tijara’s buffets (you take any) are delicious. Even a simple food item like an omelette or a plain Dosa tastes yummy! Huge variety with a bit of every cuisine and all very well prepared. Our favourite was their regional dish Kair Sangri, daal bati churma (mind blowing), lehsun mirchi ki chatni, their roasted chillies and their Thai veg green curry. Ufff…! I can go back to tijara for just these!!

This place is so beautiful that you can sit any where and spend hours with yourself. Ofcourse, more of a winter getaway but even at 49 degrees, it was house...

Just over 100 km away from Delhi, Tijara Fort Palace sits on top of Rajasthani terrains. Perfect for a quick weekend getaway, this palace gives you a rich historical feel as soon as you enter its vicinity. You get to see the walls of the humungous fort, miles before you reach the place, which makes the anticipation even more high! As soon as we reached the Fort, we were greeted by the ever smiling staff of Neemrana, which is a commendable trait of all its properties! The trip to our room (in Rani Mahal) from the reception was a long one, but it didn’t feel like one due to the lush green gardens with a variety of trees, a beautiful stairway heading up to Sheesh Mahal (where we couldn’t stop ourselves to click some pictures!) and a faint view of Mardana Mahal. We had now got a fair idea of how big and beautiful the property was by the time we reached our room, Angolie Mahal, which was in the Rani Mahal. We were awestruck as we looked at the painted walls. The beauty of this Palace is that all the rooms are uniquely designed to give you a different vibe in different rooms. Rooms in Rani Mahal are designed by women whereas rooms of Mardana Mahal are all designed by men. As we spent our day exploring the property, we did carve out some time to get some sumptuous meals in between! Their restaurant offers some great view of the farming lands below. The highlight of Neemrana for me has always been the evening tea which they offer to their residents! The variety of snacks they offer with the tea is laudable. The only thing to keep in mind during your stay here is that you may encounter a monkey! In such case, directly call for help from the Fort’s staff and don’t try to shoo off the monkey, like we tried to do (and failed miserably)! The staff knows how to get rid of them and will instantly help you so that the monkey doesn’t hurt you! Even spending 2 days in the property and exploring their different colourful parts, we still feel we’ve missed some hallways to explore! Every corner is different and as beautiful as the previous one! The aesthetics of the place are a thing of beauty and truly admirable!

I stayed at Zeenat Aman Mahal on the 12th of April to celebrate my wife's birthday, encouraged by recommendations from friends and family. However, the experience fell far below expectations. While the dining area was elegant and the food met expectations, the lack of staff cooperation was disappointing. The team seemed overwhelmed by a large group, and we had to repeatedly request basic items—sometimes two or three times—before they were brought to the table. I was somewhat reassured by the breakfast on the morning of the 13th, which was satisfying—until the mishap occurred. Upon returning to the room after breakfast, my wife was alarmed to find a live lizard trapped inside the AC vent. I recorded the incident, though it's unclear whether the lizard was there overnight while we were sleeping. The presence of a lizard—alive and later seen on the floor near our food and utensils—was deeply unsettling. Housekeeping responded promptly and confirmed the lizard was alive. When I called reception, I expected a more serious reaction, but was told, “Let me arrange housekeeping for you.” The tone implied that this wasn’t an unusual issue. Even your spokesperson casually remarked, “It’s a hilltop area—it’s just an animal,” and somehow the conversation was diverted to road development, which made me feel like my concern was dismissed entirely. As if that wasn’t enough, during checkout, we waited over 25 minutes in direct sunlight for our luggage. This delay felt like an unfortunate final impression. When the luggage finally arrived, the complimentary cake meant for my wife was ruined. This experience was far from what I hoped for while celebrating a special occasion. I find it difficult to recommend a place where basic hygiene, guest response, and courtesy seem so compromised. I’m sharing this feedback in good faith, hoping it will be taken seriously, not just read and filed away. I can share some videos on request as well.
