We reached Valley Flower Camp after a long and arduous drive from Leh. It is a delightful property with well appointed tents and very helpful staff.||||The location is at Sumur, some distance away from Hundar, the main touristy area, which can be a blessing or a negative factor depending upon how you look at it. Hundar is crowded, busy and very touristy. Valley Flower Camp is far removed, quiet, with little streams gurgling pat your tent, and a central area set up with a tent for groups to sit together. The location is some 25-30 kms from Hundar.||||The food is simple vegetarian, with the vegetables being grown in the kitchen garden of the complex. There is a small market nearby, should you need any provisions. There is a small area of sand dunes and some tired looking double humped camels for rides close by. However, Hundar is the place to go if you want more of this.||||Electricity is available in the evenings and on alternate mornings. Wifi works when there is electricity. The dining room also has cable TV, and we watched the finals of the India England women's World Cup for a bit.||||Given the remote location, the facilities are really quite good. The tents are well appointed, the bathrooms pretty large and tiled.||||Though the facility was not fully booked, the owner displayed a lot of empathy in cancelling the reservation of one of of our group members who had to be evacuated from Leh to Delhi since he had had an accident enroute. That was really very welcome, we did not get the same empathy from a much larger property in Leh, namely, the Singge Palace where we had about 25 room...
Read moreWe two senior couples pre-booked two deluxe tents for 5th and 6th May 2023. But while checking in those were not ready for us. We have checked two deluxe tents but those were in very bad and shabby conditions. Then we were given two smaller tents, that too were not in very good conditions, the door chain zippers were not working and fixing and the window curtains were not closing. In the evening with high winds, all the window covers were flown away, and the workers there had to stich them to lock. The owner of the property was completely indifferent and did not care about all these. As there was very few options at Nubra/Sumur and we pre-booked (MAP) through Goibibo with full payment, we had to accept it. Tekchand, the manager cum caretaker cum cook of this property was the only service provider and was always at our service with limited resources. The food service (veg) was average as per expectations...
