I got acquainted with this little known village in south Sikkim through facebook. Me my friend's family booked & stayed there for 2 nights. Spl draw of d homestay is the Machaan. Breathtaking view around from it. The Machan is Very aesthetically decorated. Adjoining two rooms are nice, clean and the washroom is just ok. A Geyser is strongly recommended, instead of immersion heater coils, which are dangerously accident prone. ||||Mr Amrit Sharma is the owner of the property and he oversees all the activities of not only his homestay, but also d promotion of his entire Chalamthang village, which is really Commendable. ||He is extremely well mannered, h and helpful. We reached there just 1 day after d 'demonetization'(8/11/2016) , on 11/11/2016 and we didn't have to bother at all, about d fate of d old ₹ 1000 and ₹ 500 notes. This is Highly Appreciated. ||||Note- This homestay is strictly vegetarian. ||Amrit Sharma forgot to mention that whilst booking process was going on. ||We brought some non-veg foods from home, which instead of consuming em in flight, we had them at their dining room, which according to em is strictly off-limits for non-veg foods. There were no sign anywhere depicting the property as a 'NO- Non Veg. Area'. The lady, presumably his elder sister was Unnecessarily RUDE to inform that to us. We were absolutely devoid of it. ||||Nevertheless, the food served over there is "organic", as claimed and tastes good, except the 'baajra ki roti' served in d breakfast to us, on the last day( we were told, it's Mr Pawan Chamling's favorite delicacy, but certainly NOT mine or my co-travellers.) ||||Room tip # Stay only at the 2 room adjacent...
Read moreWe, as a couple stayed in this homestay for one night. This is actually situated 20 mins driving in upper hill area from Singtam Bazar. We hire a alto from NJP to Singtam bazar and from there, we called Amrit, homestay's Manager and he sent one car to take us to hilltop. However, Car fare was bit overpriced (500/- for 20 mins drive) w.r.t to NJP to Singtam fare. The actual homestay was 50 stairs up from the motor-able road. So we have to go upstairs to arrive at the main location. ||||It was beautiful. There is a macha where all the comfortable seats are arranged and you can seat, lie down , relax and gossip. We got the front rooms from where you can see the hills. It was clouds covering the hill top and looks very blue around. At the night, Macha looks really awesum in lantern lights ( obviously bulbs). At 5:10, sunrise was really awesome just like hilltop having yellow balltop at his head.||||Rooms are good, spacious enough. Weater heaters are there. Main thing is Food and it was really delicious. There are more than enough items in lunch and dinner than we usually have at our home. Some local food items, you will have. Homestay foods are usually good and so it was. However, There are all veg food so don't expect non veg items. Pricing was not same what it was mentioned in the site. We are informed of 375/- with all lunch, dinner and snack and at the end, it was billed 470/- per head. ||||If we want take a break from your busy schedule and stay disconnect at the heart of mother nature, this is the place. You cannot do anything other than just sit, relax, have food...
