Daragoan Retreat (Gurung Homestay) — Hotel in Sikkim

I cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful retreat, only wish I had more than one night there. Shiva and his wife Radha and their daughter Nesang are beautiful, gentle people, who welcomed me warmly. I found the steps to the property daunting, but they were forgotten upon reaching the top, such a magical setting. Shiva showed me to my cottage, an utterly charming spot with everything I needed, plus a deck to sit out on to enjoy the beautiful view and the complete peace. My dinner and breakfast were both delicious local food, and Nesang explained at dinner the belief in the benefits of the large brass plate my meal was served on. Outside reception is a charming layout of garden and water feature, the latter filled with large and lazy goldfish enjoying life, and local frogs visiting. Just such an idyllic picture, and I spent some time near the water being mesmerised.|Waking in the morning to find one of the family dogs curled up on my doorstep gave me the feeling he had been there to 'watch over me'. We had the pleasure of staying at Daragaon Retreat, Gurung Homestay in Darap Village, Pelling. Our hosts, Shri Shiva Gurung and Smt Radha Gurung, made our stay truly memorable. The property is situated in a stunning valley, just 6 kilometers from Pelling city, en route to Rimbi Falls and Kanchenjunga Falls. The location is serene, with breathtaking landscapes and an unspoiled environment.

Shri Gurung and his family were warm and wonderful hosts, providing excellent local cuisine and accommodating our vegetarian needs with delicious meals. We stayed for two nights in spacious and elegant rooms. The property is well-maintained, featuring beautiful landscaping and gardening. A particularly delightful feature is the Koi pond at the entrance, which provides a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

Although our stay was only two days, we wished we could have extended it. I highly recommend Gurung Homestay to anyone traveling to Pelling...

Have a frustrating experience with this accomodation & Mr. Shiv ji even before we are to set in there to start our trip.

We planned to be there in this homestay during 1st week of November (2021) & gave 20% of accomodation charges as advance around the month of September (2021). But just before 10 days of advent of our trip, we came to know from them that we will not be able to avail that accomodation during mentioned time because entire accomodation have been booked by film crew for shooting purpose which are supposed to be done before we reach there but could not be finished due to bad weather. This is thoroughly unprofessional to deal with customers & creates bad impression about this particular homestay & its management. They should inform us as soon as film party told them about their extended stay in this homestay but that has not been done.

I would never recommend anyone to this homestay...
