Talk about love at second sight. That's what I would call my opinion about this place.
So we had reached near the property at around 9.30 pm, in our car and the Google maps couldn't show the way to the property (from kunnakombe junction). We felt stranded and called the property. They immediately sent 2 helpers to show us the way. They took us in a passage that is not visible in Google maps! And it was extremely scary and narrow. It was 2 Kms of scary ride in the dark. And we reached the property around 10 and its was totally dark all around, with nothing visible around property. We started to feel that we made a mistake opting for this place. We slept, thinking that we should check out the next morning and find another place to spend the rest of the holidays.
Then comes the next morning and we were awestruck from the view we saw from our bedroom window. This place is nested amidst the most magnificent mountains. And it was peace and serenity from that very moment. We stayed for 2 more nights and we felt homesick before leaving the place. The path we came at night, looked safer when we travelled in the day. So my advice for fellow travellers is to reach the property quite early, i.e before its night fall.
The service boys were so so good (Mr Satish, Mr Vikram). The breakfast spread was pretty decent. Restaraunt food for lunch and dinner were priced reasonably as well. And if you are coming with a driver, they offer food for drivers at a discounted price.
Cons
Only BSNL and JIO network available, Vodafone with some luck, but Airtel no network, so be prepared. There is no phone in the room, so calling for room service or any other need is lil tricky.
Its difficult to reach this place if you are not having a vehicle. If you are planning to catch a flight/bus to coimbatore/Coonoor and travel here, it might be challenging a get any cab to this place, as the drivers might not accept to come. So plan carefully.
P. S. We had come from bangalore, travelled via ooty to reach this place. Possibly the route from Coonoor could be more safer and better (didn't check just guessing) , please confirm with property...
Read moreAn average bed and breakfast place, good for a day. I was staying in 1bhk(Ruby cottage) with family any my review is specific to this. Kitchen is available, only with kettle and basic tea/coffee sachets. Hot water available round the clock. Excellent natural lighting inside rooms. Childrens play area and lawn available with seating. Campfire available in common area at additional cost. Staffs and service persons were helpful.
Wifi strength is poor, available only outside the cottage. Only BSNL nw coverage, no intercom. Toiletries quality can be improved (towel/soap), only basic items available. Housekeeping can be improved for betterment (linens, bed/pillow covers). Some of veg items that we ordered were on high masala and spicy, neutral dishes like dhal and curd helped us! If you are bringing an infant, hammock cannot be hanged inside this place, plan for alternates.
It's easy to get lost enroute, do not follow online maps just follow sign board for green pastures little before kunnakombai, you can still get lost as we don't have enough signs in few road divergence. Driving to the place is an adventure especially if it rains and if ur not having BSNL network. This place is run by a family in Kerala so they may have little chance of guiding you to the place if you are lost. Also we got blocked by 15-20 gaur which is roaming around the area, so if ur travelling late evening be aware of environment.
Observed this property got 4bhk, 3bhk, 1 bhk and a dormitory. View from 3bhk should be good than others. Lush green around but you need be to in the right block to...
Read more42 Green Pastures is approx 15 kms from the town of Coonoor. Others have reviewed this place before, so I will just highlight a few things. This place is suitable for a varied group of travellers who are looking for more than just a resort in the heart of the city where you go sightseeing daily along with the other thousands of tourists who crowd around the popular tourist spots.||||This is a place far away from all that, Your travel to the resort takes you thru vast expanses of Tea plantations and forests and narrow roads. But when you reach the place, you are hit by the lovely natural beauty of the place as well as the lovely gardens maintained by the owners Jacob and Susan. The rooms are different room types, both large and small, as well as dorms and tents for those who like to rough it out "in comfort". This place is ideal for small groups upto 25 or 30 people and there is many activities and facilities available to keep you busy thru out your trip. You won't feel like getting out of the place. Games like volleyball, basketball, throwball etc plus indoor games as well as rigorous activities like trekking (spot bisons and other wild animals), commando net, burma bridge etc. Camp fires anytime. ||Food is really good and I am sure Susan can customise it to your groups likings. This place is not just a commercial business but it is a place run by nature lovers who will provide you with a wonderful experience. I loved it. We went as a group of 22 pax and we...
