I have been here on Aug 15th long weekend with family and friends. We had good time at Four Point by Sheraton. A nice cozy stay at Mahabalipuram very open and welcoming property. ||||Quick overview of my experience ||||- Green and well maintained ||- Cycling tracks and cycling available ||- Badminton and indoor game options, they do send board games to room on demand||- Some organized games like shooting balloon for kids||- Kids movie show screening in the evening ||- Ice cream cart for kids||- Mahabalipuram popular attractions are in 2km distance and easily accessible. Hotel has shuttle services also. ||- Swimming pool both baby pool and adult. ||- High tea with some old Tamil songs, but traditional Tamil snacks are missing. ||- Property has enough space to morning jogging or cycling apart from the gym. Gym is equipped with basic multi machine and options. It’s good for 1-2days while you are away and on vacation from your routine workout place. It’s clean and well maintained.||- Breakfast buffet is good but local Tamil delicacy like Pongal or very Tamil stuff was missing from spread.||||Restaurant petals and room service good quality was good. Everybody liked the food, whether it be included breakfast or Ala carte orders we made for dinner/lunch. ||||Thanks to front office staff Aarathi, Merin for making our checkin/checkout smooth. Also those safety staff who helped to transport us in buggies.||||I would also like to thank Soumen, Pavan and team for making our experience at petals great. ||||I would also like to thank Mr. Karthikeyan who is very kids friendly person overseeing swimming pool and pool side activities. They also provide tubes, kick board etc. ||||Feedback:||One thing petals and property needs to pay attention is arrange enough seating without making guests wait a lot. Or you should make sure you give enough heads up to the guest during the check in progress and let them plan especially when with kids. We had struggle for getting seats on Friday night dinner and breakfast during our 2N stay at Four Points. But Mr. Pavan listened to our concern and arranged table without much wait. ||||You are check-in guest in star facility and i don’t think you want to wait for tables like a popular hotel in mall or street (Saravana Bhavan in Chennai , Nagarjuna in Bangalore or Paragon in Calicut) especially...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton with my family, marking our second visit to this property. Our first visit was shortly after the 44th Chess Olympiad in 2022, which was held at this venue. During that time, we saw statues of the mascot ‘Thambi’ displayed throughout the complex.
While the hotel is best suited for business and official purposes, it’s also enjoyable for families. Upon entry, you’ll find a large conference room/auditorium in the first building, with the reception located in the second building, leading to the rooms and other facilities. Between these two buildings is a spacious lawn, providing a pleasant open area.
The hotel offers a range of amenities, including a swimming pool, gym, bicycles, kids play area and hammocks. The cobblestone paths leading up to the rooms are elegant. However, as the property isn’t near a beach, there are no beach-related activities. The swimming pool is well-maintained, with a lifeguard named Karthikeyan who is both helpful and alert.
In terms of service, I found the staff to be warm and generally helpful, even though they were catering to many visitors that weekend. My child had a small fall while riding a bicycle, and I requested assistance at the reception. They promptly provided a first aid kit and offered help to administer it.
When it comes to food, it is in line with what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel, having a good mix of cuisines.
Now, on to the room. Unfortunately, this was where the experience fell short. For a 5-star property, the room didn’t quite meet expectations. The room felt a bit small, and both the bedroom and bathroom had a more typical 3-star feel to them. There were no hand towels in the bathroom, and overall, the space lacked the swankiness you'd expect from a luxury hotel.
Another issue I noticed is the growing trend among 5-star hotels to eliminate disposable toiletries like soaps and shampoos in the name of eco-friendliness, which I support. However, it's frustrating that they continue to use single-use plastic bottles for water, leading to an enormous amount of plastic waste. If a hotel truly cares about the environment, it should stop using plastic water...

We had a last minute plan of travelling to mahabalipuram, and as we searched for hotels, we found that most of the sea side hotel don't allow booking for 2 adults and 2 teenagers kids in a room. I can understand hotels charging extra for kids for food and using the facility ,but out right denying booking doesn't make logical and economical sense to me.
However we zeroed on Four Points, which wasn't a beach property. When we arrived we were still not sure if we made the right choice as the place looked more like a convention centre, but what followed was an amazing experience.
We were welcomed with garland and kumkum. Though we arrived early we had a smooth check-in and whizzed to our room in a golf kart. The room was a 1 B/R set, we opted for a extra roll on bed too. It was a most comfortable stay we had. There were plenty of hammocks in the property which we used for taking a siesta. Cycles were provided free of charge for for the enthusiastic to cycle in the property. The was evening high teas with cookies and samosa in the evening , which was complimentary. Swimming pool was nice and clean, with an lifeguard who was ever helpful. Playing cricket ,football and flying kite on the big green lawn was a luxury.
As a matter of fact the whole experience was memorable because of the welcoming nature of the staff. It seemed as if they were all united in making your holidays the best they could.
The food on christmas eve dinner was simply remarkable. We couldn't find one dish which wasn't wow ! The breakfast were great too. The best part was eggless waffles and pancakes. The carrot dosa was great too. Special shout out to Teresa ,who waited tables for us , and made the kids and us comfortable.
Also thanks to the chef Vijaykumar, for helping us order some special south indian delicacy.
The place was 3km away from the beach, and since we had our own car, the distance didn't pinch us much. If we ever visit the city we now know which...
