NO FOR FAMILY AND NEVER FOR FAMILY WITH KIDS I stayed there this week for two days with my family including two kids
Pros Good view from balcony Clean room
Cons *Rooms are not sound proof. Both the days i had party people next to my room..You need to listen to all there songs and yelling through out the night..My kids were scared, same complained to Praveen’s mom and she told its a lodge and they cannot control it *Stay doesnt have parking and they wont tell you till your advance payment.Stay is near to Dolphine nose and has very narrow road..Most probably your car will get scratch if you park at the road side. They will suggest you Manna cafe parking (250/night)-Dont go for it..cafe guys will open the parking gate as they like..I waited almost 1hr to open the gate..Only option is Kodai heaven parking-500 for 12 hrs *Service is below average If you are lucky and room boys are not busy ,they will carry your trolley bags or you walk almost 150 meters inclined climb with your trolley.I carried all my bags while checking out bcoz room boys were not available. They will give you different packages including welcome drinks, breakfast and private campfire..I choose the premium package and didnt get welcome drink or tea/coffee and they have 5 rooms & 2 camp fire places.Later switched to basic one Dont expect any room service or newly washed comforts ..It is like a lodge as mentioned by owner’s mom itself..I got TV without connection and kettle with fungus.. Again if you want drink with your friends and yell a lot,This is the...
Read moreLast weekend, my family and I had the pleasure of staying at a wonderful resort in Kodaikanal (Praveen's Wood House, Vattakanal). Nestled amidst pear fruit trees and with the serene presence of around 20 bison nearby, the location itself was enchanting.
The resort, managed and maintained with impeccable care, truly exceeded our expectations. The food, prepared with love and expertise, was not just delicious but also a highlight of our stay.
What truly set this experience apart was the exceptional hospitality extended to us by Praveen and his family. Praveen, the owner, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. His coordination throughout the trip was exemplary, and he effortlessly organized our plans and catered to our every need.
A special mention must be made of Praveen's mother, whose culinary skills left us craving for more. Her affection towards our family, especially towards our kid, was heartwarming. Despite the resort being fully booked, they managed to shower us with attention and care, making us feel truly at home.
Our Kodaikanal visit was nothing short of magical, thanks to Praveen and his family. We are immensely grateful for the wonderful memories and the warm hospitality. Thank you for making our stay...
Read moreI had a deeply disappointing experience at Praveen’s Woodhouse and Homestays, Vattakanal on the evening of June 21st. I had a confirmed booking through Booking.com, and even had the confirmation email with all details. As I was having trouble locating the property (the map showed it was still 1.5 km away), I called the number provided to get help with directions.
To my shock, the person I spoke with flatly refused to honor the booking, saying they only accept direct bookings, despite me clearly mentioning that I had a valid Booking.com confirmation. This left me completely stranded—with my wife and two young daughters (ages 2 and 6)—in an unfamiliar place late in the evening. It was an incredibly stressful situation.
Thankfully, I was able to find another resort nearby at the last minute, but this experience was both upsetting and unprofessional.
My honest advice: do not blindly trust bookings on third-party platforms like Booking.com, especially with unverified or lesser-known properties like this one. Always call and confirm directly with the property in advance, and avoid places that aren’t transparent or reliable. I wouldn’t recommend this homestay to anyone based on what we...
