Oyster Opera — Hotel in Thekkekad

Yesterday, 36 of us went to the Oyseter Opera as a family outing. We had a wonderful, unforgettable day. I want to start by expressing my gratitude to Mr. Vijayan, the receptionist, and the entire team for establishing a calm atmosphere and a delicious lunch.

Pros: Excellent staff. They are all quiet, orderly, and clean. They do their jobs consistently and with a great deal of knowledge. Beautiful, spotless, and hygienic cottages. The offered activity was excellent. The rain dance, kayaking, and boat cruise were all enjoyable. Even after so many days, you can't stop thinking about the cuisine, oh my goodness. Breakfast is also equally supereb. Must try place for a foody. It was a lot of fun swimming in the backwater. That only lasted for maybe fifteen minutes. We desired more of it. For a minimum of two hours. The guy overseeing the interboat rides is a really modest guy.

Cons: If the kids' play area gets too soggy during the wet season, blocks can be added. Very risky areas close to a few huts. You are standing at the edge of a river after just opening the door. There's a danger the children who are leaving the cottage could fall into the water. Kindly fence it in. It might be better to supply children with life jackets. Benches are available for sitting. Our cottage was located a good distance away from the dining area. Many of the elderly citizens had trouble getting around. Please create shortcuts. Our kids are quite disappointed because swimming pool was not included in the day pacakage. Kindly provide big groups a discount. Please supply more single and double kayaks as well as...

If you are looking for affordable quick place, something out of ordinary, here is Oyster Opera for you. Perfect for one or two days. If you are a honeymooner, or a tiny family with young child, or with teenagers I guarantee that it will satisfy you. Its managed by a humble man without much expectation and loves to be with people. There are about 5 to 6 cottages and a floating accommodation for you to choose. All of them are AC equipped(optional) If its rainy season you don't need a AC, but in summer a MUST. Food is extraordinary and I say unlimited. Main highlight of the program is, the backwater swimming, please dont skip it. Have clothing for your swimming, even if you dont know swimming its very safe. They have other activities like visiting beach etc, which I don't want to write about as you can do these thing anywhere. They have play area for shuttle, volleyball and some indoor games. Call in advance and book your accommodation as this place is heavily booked. Hot water is available 24 hours. Best way to come here is by train, get down at Chervattur station and take a autorickshaw (120rs) to this place. We enjoyed here with my 4 family friends and kids last week. There is also a massage service, massage was good but the massage hut needs some maintenance, I have complained to the owner about it and he has agreed to fix them, so check and use these services. Food is mainly non veg and seafood, although veg also served, but check in advance if you are strictly vegetarian. In nutshell, its a amazing place. Check the pictures!
