This is our second visit (June,2018) to the Bisht Guest House at Almora , our first being in June, 2015. My husband and I along with our little family of three, Goldie the lab and our Pug twins Bothch and Chups have found a home away from home.
We highly recommend this place for any one who wishes to destress and recouperate from their daily hectic routine of life.
If you are looking to be greeted as warmly as your own family would greet you and look after you then Mr. Diwan Bisht and his lovely wife who is fondly addressed as 'Munni' at the Bisht Guest House should be your ultimate choice. Even the cute St. Bernard 'Shadow' and his best pal 'Rani' the cat live in perferct harmony over hear.
Wholesome home cooked food, clean and spacious rooms with all basic amenities and most of all the Peace and Tranquillity of Nature at its Best is to be found at this quaint yet well maintained guest house. Exploring the beautiful Pine forest right behind the guest house with long walks up the Binsar road is a must do for all nature lovers.
Mr. Bisht, owner and gracoius host of Bisht Guest House is an extremely polite and well informed gentlemen, who is always ready to assist and guide you on anything you need to know or require in and around the area.
The guest house is also away from the hustle and bustle of the main town of Almora (yet you may get to the town in no less than 7 minutes through a convenient short cut) on the scenic Almora - Binsar road, giving you a sense of being cut off from the outside world.
We would definitely recommend the Bisht Guest House without any doubt or hesitation. Whether you are travelling alone or in a group Mr. Bisht and his wife Munni are sure to make your stay at Almora a memorable one.
Thank you Mr. Bisht and Munni for your lovely hospitality. Hope to see you soon.

Read moreMy 4th visit over 7 years was in Nov.2023 The Bisht is one of my favourite places to stay ,after years of extensive travel . Set in lovely surroundings , with a garden and great view of valley below the Himalayas in the distance ,and a clear star filled night sky.
My home stay hosts Diwan and Munni are the most hospitable people you could meet, and a treasure trove of knowledge of the area . Locals, who have built and run this Guest House themselves , over 21 years. I enjoyed a simple but delicious dinner each night with them .
Apart from short term holiday stays , this reasonably priced place is IDEAL for longer stays of 3 months , 6 months or longer. Either working from there as internet connectivity is good , or perhaps retirees, or those who could spend time here , using the simple self catering / cooking facilities in each room .
The Bisht Guest House over many years , has become renowned in the area as a perfect place for meditation , Yoga practice , writing , walking . Diwan is always happy to show you some of his favourite walks.
Access is by a pathway 200 metres off the main road , and there is secure car parking available .
Totally unlike the growing commercialisation of the travel industry , the Bisht Guest House is truly ''The Essence of Kasar'' and Kumaon...
