Dhikala Forest Rest House — Hotel in Uttarakhand

I was very lucky to be allotted to stay here during my tiger safari in Corbett. The place is steeped in history and is the only place in India where guests can stay within the National Park. The rooms vary and yours will depend on when you apply and rooms are allocated on a first come basis. One should not expect hotel level luxury, this place is strictly for dedicated safari enthusiasts. The alternative is a 2hr trek in and out of Dhikala zone before any guided safari commences.

The staff were dedicated, welcoming and very helpful. They really are a credit to Corbett, given the obvious dangers they are exposed to in working within a domain dedicated to the protection of the regal tiger.

The kitchen staff and the food served was excellent and i really felt well looked after. The food is vegetarian for an obvious reason and there is no alcohol permitted on the premises, mainly due to maintaining safety of the guests.

I’m not sure how much longer this place will remain open for guests to stay and enjoy their safari’s from. Located within the reserve, there is an inherent danger to all residing here, but that is also part of the essence of experiencing a tiger safari. This is no zoo where the amazing creature is held in captivity.
