The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The food was simple, homemade, and comforting — perfect after a day of exploring. The rooms are basic but clean, and the whole place has a quiet, rustic charm.

A few things to note: amenities are minimal, so don’t expect hotel-style luxury. The water pressure can be low at times, and it might take a bit of effort to find the property if you’re arriving for the first time — but once you’re there, it’s worth it.

This place was a life saver for us during our visit to Nainital and Ranikhet in the peak season of June. We went to Ranikhet in a completely unplanned trip with no bookings. Though we were warned by many that we won't get any hotels, we dared to do this. We reached Ranikhet at around 2pm and started our search for a decent hotel.. But no rooms were available. When it got 5 and we realized it will get dark soon, we planned to more ahead to Kausani. After we crossed complete habitable Ranikhet, we saw this beautiful homestay in between the hills owned and managed by an Uncle. He was very polite, gave us a great price and arranged food for us. Nanda Devi Homestay is run by a young Kumaoni Entrepreneur with his sweet smile and delightful warmth.

The homestay is located next to a gentle flowing brook that sound wonderful and soothing. If you are looking to holiday in a quaint Himalayan hamlet, this is the place for you. The food is locally sourced and freshly cooked by Nikku. We love their tea and Parathas. Channa/ Rajma Chawal are other favourites.

The main star here at NandaDevi is actually the Himalayas, rarely will you get to see this wide view of majestic mountains, both stunning sunrises and sunsets. Mesmerizing.

There is plenty of room and it is located just between Nanital/ Bhimtal and Binsar/ Almora and beyond.
