I visited "The Pahadi Organic" with my family in October, 2021 and it was such a memorable experience. The owner Mr. Chetan Rawat is a very gentle, friendly and helpful person, he not only helped and guided us throughout the stay but also arranged a short trek to a nearby sunset point, trek to river Kosi and also arranged our Safari to Jim Corbet nicely. We had a great time here.||||The backyard of the hotel is also owned by them, it is very large and mostly used for organic farming. You can visit the farm at your convenience and they have some more rooms for guests uphill. You can do some photography there too.||||The highlight of "The Pahadi Organic" is its authentic and organic pahadi cuisine. Non-vegetarians will love the desi chicken and mutton recipes here. You should also try the organic red rice and local pakodas with chutney. Make sure you order your food in advance, like order your lunch after breakfast, order for dinner after lunch and breakfast after dinner. This is because they prepare everything according to orders and cook dishes with freshly made spices and ingredients. Nothing is carried forward. The kitchen is open and has glass partitions where you can see the kitchen staff cooking your food on the traditional stove (lakdi ka chulha). The dining area is well designed and boasts some great pahadi paintings and wooden furniture. They also use heavy copper utensils for serving food which is great. All the staff members are very polite and helpful.||||They do not have many rooms but the rooms are quite large, air-conditioned and well designed with a cupboard and locker. Beds are very comfortable and bathrooms are spacious, well fitted and have all the modern amenities with hot and cold water. There is a common sitting area with a large projector where we enjoyed the IPL Final match with 2 more guest families along with snacks and tea. They also have a full functional Massage chair which is available for all guests FOC. During my stay of 2 days/nights I could rare find the chair free, it was mostly busy relaxing other guests. Never mind, this is a good touch of care for the guests which I didn't find at other similar hotels. There is a large open parking just in front of the hotel with some Ritha trees around. Parking your cars will not be problem here.||||Just like they say, nothing in this world is Perfect - there are 2 noticeable drawbacks of this hotel -||1. It is almost 30 kms far from Jim Corbett. The roads are bad and steep with many sharp and dark turns which can make driving difficult and risky if you don't have experience driving on the hills. The roads are quite narrow and even have broken side-railings. Drive safely.||2. No mobile network with Airtel and Vodafone. If you have Jio, you will get some weak signals here.||||So, during your next trip to Jim Corbett if you are looking for an additional adventure of driving and living at a secluded and silent place, having authentic and organic pahadi food, "The Pahadi Organic" is the best choice. This is a must visit place for you and your family. You will not regret your decision and this is not a PAID review, honestly.||||I am giving a 5 star rating to "The Pahadi Organic". Chetan ji...
Read moreThe Pahadi is an organic restaurant, motel and adventure sports center that we chanced upon after crossing through the Jim Corbett Reserve. The inviting exterior and the organic tag made us stop there in no time, while we were still deciding if we should reach our booked property to have our lunch there or halt somewhere on the way (and we had crossed many a worthy-looking places along the way being unable to decide).
A lot of passion and thought must have gone in setting up this place. Right from the location, which provides a panoramic view of a vast valley to its intricate, wooden-themed façade to super clean washrooms, everything seemed to be perfect with this property.
One look inside and your belief on their attention to detail is firmed up. Two large transparent windows provide you a full peek into their kitchen and you can see the locals preparing the food right in front of your eyes. Their menu offers the pahadi cuisine at is exquisite best, but we still settled in the for the regular dal and paneer bhurji (which probably wasn't the right decision). They make it amply clear that the service is going to take time, so the hungry stomachs ought to have patience before being served here.
In anticipation for our food, we spent the wait in clicking photographs around, visiting their kitchen and meeting their very-friendly and smiling local staff. Still for the city crowd, used to McDonald's instant serving, the waiting time may seem a little too much.
The expectations were sky high from the stage that had been set so far. But honestly, we were not very impressed with the taste. The dal was bland (we had requested a non-onion, non-garlic version) and the paneer was dry, almost crumbly. I'm not sure if that's the pahadi way of cooking them, but it definitely may not appeal to the average Punjabi tongue. The rotis, to be fair, were definitely prepared well. But again we wondered why even the small order was coming in bits and pieces with repeated reminders (the table occupancy was also not much). Possibly the staff is new and still getting used to commercial hospitality.
Their pahadi salt (which we had to ask for in order to make up for the blandness) did steal the hearts of everyone of us, and we wondered what the secret ingredients in that were.
I'd still recommend this place for the gracious staff, and their living up to the claim of preparing fresh and organic food. Next time, probably we'd probably be some more adventurous and order their authentic, menu items to savour the real taste of this...
