It was plan to travel Purulia during Durga Puja, 2022. Purulia, where nature embrace its habitants, is one which is residing near our heart. Only demand was to stay at the Hill top. With our previous experience and googling we know there is Govt accommodation there. But booking is little difficult as one has to visit their office at Kolkata and book it. In this situation, google helped us. We found Kalyan Forest Resort. With all photos and descriptions, it was very appealing. Then we contacted resort directly and booked two rooms for four of us.||On 1st of Oct, evening we checked in Kalyan Forest Resort and we knew it was not a mistake. Resort is situated amidst nature and surrounded by green forests. Being out of hustle bustle of tourist spots it gives proximity to all places worth seeing like Hill top, Murgma Lake, Upper and Lower Dam. Bamni Falls and others. ||After reaching at Resort, we went for short walk around it as it was evening and dark outside. Next to resort there is one small red color cottage, very neat. We were really surprised by seeing that. But our interest increased further when we saw that it is primary school.||Next day morning we were discussing with resort Manager. He gave us insight about the locality, Resort and the said School. This place is dominated mainly by Santals. Being far of city and surrounded by forests there is little scope for jobs or education. Young people need to go far from home to earn from their family or for education and those are also not available by enough numbers. Once one person Mr. Kalyan Ghosh visited Ajodhya Pahar and met Resort Manager. Resort Manager was having some land and Mr. Ghosh proposed to have Resort there. Mr. Ghosh started one Trust for this purpose and this property was entrusted to the Trust. Construction was completed by 2020 and after that operation started. ||This resort gave and continues to give job opportunity for the local youth. And our experiences say that they are extremely efficient and not to mention their cordial behaviour to the guests. Even foods are also prepared by them and we must admit that those are of very high quality and tested awesome.||Apart from Resort and job to local Youth, Trust thought of education of local children. They need to go to far away for education. Further after school hours there was no one who support them to continue leaning, as they were first generation for education. With this idea in mind Trust has started primary school which is mentioned already. This school not only gives education of local children, it helps to support them after school hour also. Not to mention this unique concept improved quality of life of the locals surrounding to the Resort. More this kind of enthusiasts come forward, we can beat the odds.||Qudo to Kalyan Ghosh and his Trust!||Qudo to Kalyan Forest Resort and its all employees...

Well my experience is not so good about this place.

Let's start with the location first. Its on the upper side of ajodha hills and is in very remote area compared to other resorts which were downside. Difficult to reach. Google map shows wrong turn just before the reaching point of the resort.

Resort sign board was placed long before its reaching point. We were about to enter the jungle according to google map location. Luckily we saw one resort worker coming in our direction and we asked him. He helped out for right turn and admits that map shows wrong location and their resort sign board is not very visible.

Now coming to the second issues; when we reached resort, rains were there in late evening and our room booked was leaking. So we asked to change the room and they did it too. No TVs they have in any of their rooms. They said here signal do not come so we don't put TVs. Just wifi were there with ok speed as in any other hotel. Not so good.

Last and the worst think is their buffet breakfast which was not at all good. Food wasn't tasty. It has no spice and masalas. On eating upma I was confused whether i am eating upma or halwa. Not only this they keep buffet in one area. And if someone want to have tea along with breakfast, they have to visit another resturant area by manually walking.

Me and my daughter fell ill after taking their Ala carte lunch which was ok in taste but not in quality i guess. Both of us vomited so many times. There is no nearby clinic/hospital etc. as they told us. Luckily we found one chemist's shop and took medicine prescribed for us in such weird circumstances. For me it's a pathetic experience... not at all worth according to price.

2 point rating is only for the green...

I would say, this is an amazing place to stay for family and friends. The hotel is very well decorated, the staffs are super nice. They have great food options from Indian, Chinese to English and they only make fresh food. We also had barbecue chicken and 5 whole chickens which were roasted on a bonfire. The food we tried at other hotels in Purulia, these guys have way much better food than them with wide varieties. This hotel have different types of room available and all of their rooms have names based on the local village, trees, local hills, local festivals.etc. which was unique and amazing. We were 15 people, so we took three super deluxe rooms and it was given at affordable rate from the receptionist. Prices are like 2k, 3k, 4k. Rooms are for 5 people, 4 people, 3 person and so on. All the rooms are well maintained. We chose to stay here after visiting 4-5 other hotels and this was the best hotel we found in Purulia’s Ajodhya Hill, from service to ambience to food. Everything was perfect. I might not have the best photos clicked here, but go and check out the hotel. The google photos doesn’t do justice to this one. The only Problem we had :- Since, the place is little into the village, you won’t have phone network other than JIO.

A very rustic resort with a touch of nature. A very nice resort whose theme is nature. Ample cottages of different kinds. Their whole theme is the rustic village. Hence the over all pverview would be like that only. But they have tried their best to i corporate modern amnities too. We visited on the weekend with friends. We called them up some days ago and did the advance booking over whatsapp. They shared the receipt too. We were 5 people and booked a room for 4 and they arranged an extra bed. Checkin was very smooth and easy. Parking space is also there. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Restaurant is there and as it is a resort pocket pinch meter would be 3 out of 5. But food was tasty. We also had bonfire with chicken grill. Only the chicken grill was bit uncooked and thats the only bad thing we faced. Rest all services were prompt. Resort is very big. Only thing to keep in mind is that the Ghageshwari rooms (4 bedded) are having a steel roubd staircase which woukd be tough for senior citizens. Hence please avoid them. There are other very good rooms. Overall a very good resort. Recommended.

I went with my family for a small trip recently. The proper is located on the hilltop, and a bit away from the Purulia junction. The rooms are aesthetically made. We stayed in Palash and Shal, both of which offer forest view from the bedroom. The staff were very welcoming and cordial, specially Yuvraj and Laxmi. They arrange pickup and drop service from the railway station, and for sightseeing as well, with good and well maintained cars. The atmosphere is very homely, with various plants spread across the property, and they offer good quality, homely cooked food. One thing which can be improved or changed are the spiral staircases for the first floor rooms, Palash and Ghageshwari since they can be challenging for some people, specially seniors. Manager Mr.Narayan is also helpful and accommodating. Keep up the good service. Also we saw plenty of Palash around during this time, and there were heavy rains and thunderstorms during evening, so the weather was soothing too.
