Sagar Raj Resort — Hotel in West Bengal

The property is in a decent location at Purulia town, well accessible, well maintained, has their own parking area for self driven cars. The swimming pool was clean during the time we visited. Pool size is decent, kids and adults both can enjoy. Jacuzzi wasn't functional.

The Rooms and washrooms were nice. Room service, Reception are also very co-ordial.

But there were few moments where personally we taken aback by staff behaviour, but maybe that was our luck. For instance when asked for directions to the hotel we were said that they didn't have any whatsapp numbers from which they can send one. During complementary breakfast we were told that one can have either boiled eggs or omlettes. Complementary Breakfast needs to have more items. Banquet/Restaurant staff is a bit slow and inattentive.

But on the other hand we received great discounts on room bookings. The reception staff were very well behaved. Housekeeping attended us at every Beck and call.

To sum it all. If I'll need to revisit Purulia, I'll definitely choose...

We stayed 1 night at this resort; chose this because of very good feedback from a friend who visited 3 years back.

We booked through Makemytrip as we got a better deal compared to the rates we were offered by directly calling the hotel. Costed us below 9K for three rooms for double occupancy. We booked back facing room but thankfully were upgraded on arrival.

Breakfast was included. However we had to catch an early morning train, and the restaurant was very helpful to pack us the breakfast - veg sandwich, boiled egg, apples and bananas and halwa. Ample quantity they packed.

Location wise it’s only 1 kilometer away from the station and it took us 5 minutes to reach the station in the morning.

Food was good in the dinner as well. Reasonably priced.

Cons: we heard chaos and people cheering and singing late in the night from 3 am and 4 am. We tried to call reception, room service, restaurant - no one picked up. And with a train to catch in the morning, this ruined our much needed sleep. Finally, the people cheering left...

this place seems very lucrative once you visit the website/online portals. and fact is that it is quite good. good space for kids to play around and people to sit and gossip. ample space for car parking for restaurant and hotel people. the place is clean and relaxing. ample lights in room. the rooms facing the maingate have glass walls and hence your view is nice. the rooms which face the backside, dont have a view. you just can see the slum area. however, when it comes to service at restaurant or in the hotel, they provide really very bad service at both hotel and restaurant. although the staff seem to understand and listen patiently, but their actions speak else! food is quite expensive, even compared to standard kolkata hotels. and room service is probably the worst that i ever encountered! i would still say its good to stay with family, but please avoid restaurant and room service as much as possible in order to save yourself of...
