We had booked a delux room with balcony according to the pics shown in Agoda. but when we reached there we were given a normal A/C double room and the Manager tried to pass it on as the room we had booked. The owner Mr.Sarkar was present and he readily acknowledged the mistake and refunded the extra amount taken and apologized for the manager .. reaching there all tired and hungry and not getting the room we had booked was a rude shock.
A refund of paltry Rs.200 .. was not good enough . What we had booked was a far bigger room with Balcony and it was booked since we were 3 adults and the description in the web site said an extra cot can be put here. The room we got had a queen bed and there was space enough to put a mattress on the floor. So before going insist on speaking to the owner Mr.Sarkar and emphasize what you have booked.
Now I will list the good things : Food : break fast was loochi/puri and allo curry: taste was excellent . tea was okie dokie . thali with mutton was good and fish curry was bad . Bad things : nothing …except that extra smart manager – Nilkanth .. I think...
Read moreJust a little outskirt to Shantiniketan, in Bolpur, very near to BITM College, a garden of beautiful flowers and trees will make you forget the tiredness the moment you put your first step in the Whispering Woods Hotel. The reception is right in the front whereas the stay will be at the back of the property, and you won't mind at all to the walk leading you to your room. The rooms are very clean. I liked two things about the rooms, one is the bathroom, it is very spacious, could have provided a bath tub, and the other part is the seperate dressing area attached with your room. The room we had undoubtedly was very spacious. Yes, you won't feel furnished hotel, because no modern interiors done, plastic chairs are available in rooms but that will also make you feel very casual. We faced little problem with power cut, almost throughout the stay, but it's the government problem, isn't it! The owner is undoubtedly the most genuine and generous person. He holds no such attitude that you are talking to some hotel owner. His attitude itself says, that you are in his house as his guest. They have online payment options, which was a saviour for me. The food was very homely, very well cooked. And the staffs will also not for a fraction of a second will make you feel that you are at a hotel. I will recommend to visit this beautiful greenary at your visit. You are...
Read moreThe location of the place is a little away but accessible to Sonajhuri Hut within 10-15 mins. There cannot be any complaint with the location as we went there fully knowing and expecting the location to be 7 km away from Sonajhuri.
The decoration of the resort is nice. It is a good looking resort and we were treated with an evening of folk song arranged by the resort.
The problem, specifically to me, was the room and service. The exhaust fan was not in working condition and the bed sheets provided looked dirty. The resort is severely understaffed and services are unsatisfactory and delayed.
There was a residual latrine in the hallway to our room that we reported but it was not cleaned. The rooms were not cleaned during our stay of 2 days. We stayed in the winter and there was no electric jug in the room and no staff could be found after 10 pm to provide us hot water for our child.
The food from the associated restaurant is good but again the service is slow as it is understaffed. Overall, I would recommend it to bachelor groups who wants to barbeque and drink and have a good time considering the winter time experience. Not sure about the summer time issues like powercuts. I would not recommend this...
