Fairfield by Marriott Belitung — Hotel in Billiton

Fairfield by Marriott Belitung is not your typical Fairfield that you’d know. Yes it’s a select Marriott brand, but in Asia (especially in Indonesia), this brand doesn’t cut too much things that you’d get in premium brands. Located in the city of Tanjungpandan, a gateway to pristine beaches and islands adventures, Fairfield by Marriott Belitung is an excellent choice as a base for your travel. My detailed review follows:||1) Location: The beach is not the best but the ocean-view is still look beautiful. within 5 minute’s walking radius, you can find a number of restaurants (Tekko, affordable Indonesian food with plenty of options) and small local cafes (I’d recommend to visit Louvre cafes for decent and affordable food), also a brand new Indomart minimart (unfortunately not yet open during my visit). It’s also close to the center (only 5 mins drive).||2) I arrived around 8am because I took early morning flight (not many flights from Jakarta). However, check-in was very easy and smooth! I only waited for like ~30 mins (I enjoyed their buffet breakfast while waiting) and I have key to my room (also upgraded to a junior suite) which is excellent. Thank you so much for the front office and housekeeping team for your effort to expedite this way beyond the normal check-in time. ||3) The junior suite I had is located on 506, it’s super spacious, with a dining table, some living spaces as well. The view is beautiful although I wish the window can be a bit cleaner for better view. Housekeeping did the amazing job cleaning up and refilling room amenities everyday. All room feature works as expected, however I found it’s a bit odd that there is no electric plug in the working desk next by the window. Also mind you if you bring young children or seniors, if you set the AC temperature higher than 23-24 C or if you turned off the AC completely, condensation will cause the floor near the bathroom and front door wet and slippery. The technician really needs to work on this or at least put a warning and extra towels/floor mats to avoid any accidents which can be a liability for the hotel if people got hurt.||4) The Kava restaurant has a decent options for breakfast. I like the Chicken Porridge, also their coffee latte is surprisingly great! I tried lunch and dinner a few times and almost never disappointed, the only issue I had is just their Mango Pineapple drink which is too sweet for my taste due to the grenadine syrup, I wish I knew about this so the syrup can be served separately. Service also excellent, each time I visit, the team done a really great job proactively (instead of reactive) asking and serving all the guests needs. Special shoutout for Peni, Devi, and Ganjar. Thank you so much for your excellent service. ||5) Other hotel facility is nice enough. Good enough WiFi for me to work, I got up to 50mbps bandwidth which is surprising for a small island. The fitness center is small but it’s decently equipped with the latest gears. The pool deck and the garden are noce, but I wish there’s an umbrella for shade under the sunbed. Also, the pool I found a bit dirty with cigarette butts and dusts, I think the winds blew it away from the outdoor balcony from the restaurant which is their only dedicated smoking area. So please take a note on this. I’s suggest make the balcony area also non-smoking, and have the dedicated smoking area somewhere else away from the pool.||Overall, despite some small issues, it’s not a deal breaker. I won’t be hesitate to stay again here. I want to try their room with the ocean-view balcony on the 6th floor as well trying other things to do in Belitung. |||My husband and I recently stayed at the Fairfield during a short trip to Belitung with our toddler. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are well-kept and maintained. The views from the ocean view rooms are absolutely stunning. While you cannot access the beach from the hotel, the pool is lovely. The hotel is also in a good location - easy to get to lovely beaches, restaurants, and do some shopping. ||The breakfast buffet is fantastic - the traditional foods are some of the best I’ve had in Indonesia, and there is a wide variety of options to choose from. Everything was delicious and freshly added to the buffet on a regular basis. The kitchen was more than happy to make things that were requested. The coffees and juices on offer were also lovely.||The most amazing thing about this hotel is the impeccable service provided by every member of staff. I cannot praise the staff enough for their amazing hospitality and excellent service. We found them to be wonderful from the first moment we arrived until the moment we left. I am particularly grateful for the care they showed for our toddler. Staff made sure she was happy all the time and were not annoyed by her wanting to play. This made the trip feel so relaxed for us. ||I cannot recommend this hotel enough and look forward to visiting again soon. What a wonderful...
