Wanted something different to the usual Bintan beach resort offerings and was pleasantly surprised at stumbling upon De Bintan villa on Agoda! Was curious at the very affordable price (S$138 for 2 nights for 2 pax, inclusive of one-way car transfer from ferry terminal and breakfast buffet throughout the stay). I went with my mum. -SERVICE- Overall, the service was pretty decent as the staff were friendly and always willing to help. Their replies on WhatsApp to my questions were quite timely. On the 1st day, after checking in, we discovered our room phone wasn’t working. But that was rectified quickly as there was a thunderstorm before we arrived and they had switched it off for safety. On the 2nd day, our room keycard didn’t work but they sent someone to fix it promptly as well. The only weird thing we experienced was during check out. They tried to charge us for a ‘missing umbrella’ in the room when my mum and I had no idea what they were talking about, and hadn’t even seen the item when we arrived. We disputed it and the staff dropped the issue. So just be wary of taking stock of what’s in the room when you arrive so they don’t try to pull a shady thing like this. -FOOD- Of course, you get what you pay for so don’t have high expectations for the variety and standard of food here :) The breakfast buffet was edible enough, I just stuck to the porridge and toast so can’t speak for the rest of the options offered. You have to go to the restaurant at the ground level of the resort for breakfast. As for lunch and dinner, we mostly ate at De Cliff cafe in the resort. Dishes there were also ok, nothing to rave about. They have their own seafood restaurant called Tanah Merah about 10 mins drive away which they can send you to free of charge. We dined here on our first night. The food there was also not bad, but also nothing to rave about. Bring your own snacks to munch in your room as there are no shops nearby. -VIEWS / THINGS TO DO- The views are definitely what we looked forward to and seeing it in person was so much better than pictures online! Lush greenery as far as the eye can see, and Bintan mountain in the distance. The layout of the resort is also pretty well done, the landscaping is top notch and adds to the serenity of everything. There’s a tower at the top of the resort you can climb up to get a better view of the scenery and that was absolutely beautiful. Other facilities and activities we saw but didn’t get a chance to try were their swimming pool, fireflies tour and their hiking to Bintan mountain. They also have a whole set of services and activities you can book. We reserved an in-room full body massage + scrub for a mere 500k RP for 1.5 hours of bliss. Be sure to book the massage ahead of time though as they don’t have a masseuse on site and have to call them into the resort. -BOOKING TIPS- First tip is about choosing a room. We were placed in room 112 which was right beside De Cliff cafe. No complaints from us as it was pretty convenient when we needed to pop out for a drink and food. Something I noticed was that the live performance and music from the cafe can be heard from our room in the evening, it stopped at around 10pm so it never bothered us. But it’s something for you to take note of if you want absolute peace and quiet. Another thing is that the higher treetop villas don’t look very accessible for wheelchair-bound guests. They have a buggy they use to send guests up to the higher villas, but the villa itself has steps going down to the entrance. It looks like wheelchair-bound guests would only be able to access the ground level villas.

Booked a villa directly with the hotel. Stayed at villa with our own private pool. Absolutely amazing at the hospitality of the staff, right down to the driver. Special thanks to Aguz ( Manager) and ndy ( our driver for the 2 days tour). We booked a 2 day car +driver at a really good rate, its Cheaper than getting from the tour agency actually so if u are looking for a driver its better to ask them directly. Room was really cool, everything and more you would expect from a more nature minded villa, almost everything was build with wood n there are so many nicely hidden finds, like pineapple plants, jackfruit tree and koi ponds, i even asked the staff if i could feel the kois and to my surprise she handed me some fish food to feed them. Also, the villa has like a nice bar that serves drinks and snacks on a small hill overlooking the island so it's super cool. Overall would surely be back, Staff were all able to speak good English so that helps in communicating. Probably the best resort in bintan out of the dozens I've been after working out price and how well everything is.

De Bintan villa is a good place to relax and enjoy. Service is top notch! Rooms are generally ok, pillows have some stain on them but asking for replacement is immediate, even though the replaced pillows still have some stain/smell. The shower water does have a metallic/rust smell to it though. View is nice from the room balcony or the de cliff cafe. Breakfast is good as well. Service is great as the staff are quite flexible when scheduling the free shuttle to Tanah Merah seafood restaurant, maybe because it’s off peak season. They are also quite flexible in changing the final destination for the free shuttle to the ferry. Driver is also very kind to stop by the convenient store along the way for us to buy some snacks and souvenirs. Highly commendable!

SALAM PIKNIK...

(Room)|Our 3D2N trip was fantastic! The service, food and view was absolutely amazing. Our room was very cosy, just a tad bit dark. There’s air-conditioning and hot water so we were comfortable. ||The only issue we had would be the mosquitoes; we were bitten so many times. The staff at the DeCliff Cafe even gave us a bottle of insect repellent to ward them off, but the mosquitoes seem to be immune. Luckily the balcony doors were meshed so we could enjoy the view/get some light into the room. ||-||(Easy reservations/transportation)|Arrangements for transportation to and from the ferry terminal, reservations for dinner at Tanah Merah Seafood (super yummy!), our snorkeling day out with the Bintan Cool, and massage was done seamlessly with the help of the reception counter. ||-||(Food)|Before our stay, we checked out the reviews of the hotel from many sites, dating back to 2018 being the most recent ones, and many concerns were about the food being too salty. So we were considering to bring our own food, but we were so glad that we did not because the food was amazing! ||(1) DeCliff Cafe|For dinner on our first day, we decided to have our meal at the DeCliff Cafe. Not only was the view breathtaking, but we were also pleasantly surprised by how yummy the food was. I had an oxtail rice set, and my boyfriend had the chicken chop. The onion rings were my personal favourite.||(2) Breakfast|For bfast on the 2nd day, we were given a menu instead of the typical bfast buffet at normal hotels (probably because there weren’t that many people at the point of time). The chicken fried rice was extremely tasty, and iced milk tea ended up being my favourite drink during our stay here. Bfast the day after was the usual buffet style, and the fried rice and soup were our pick for that morning. ||-||(Special thanks to the staff)|The service here is impeccable, and the staff here were very polite and friendly. Aguz took great care of us - always driving us up to our room because the whole place is atop a hill which we are ever grateful for.||-||(To note)|Just the mosquitoes, bring mosquito nettings for your beds, and I would suggest long pants/tights instead of shorts. Sunscreen and...
