Several Times Staying at this hotel and is one of my favorite hotel when it comes to visiting and staying at Tanjung Balai Karimun. Hotel located very close to seaport, about 15mins walking distance from jetty to the hotel, all along the road theres a lots of shops and just beside the hotel (10mtr) there are groceries store and few Money changer which offer better rate compared with the Money Changer located at the Jetty. Stayed for 2 nights, room equipped with hot water, air conditioned, stable wifi, nice sea view from the new standard room with good buffet style breakfast provided. There are few tables for thus who want to sit outside facing the sea, very comforting while having your breakfast. There are also Karaoke and Pool table located at the 7th floor. For thus who want quiet room, kindly avoid 6th floor, new wings (New Standard Room) Downside -•During my stay i ask for Housekeeping around 3.30pm after In room massage and nobody attend my room until i check out on the next morning. Basically 2 rooms (615 and 614) requested for housekeeping and was never attended. •Hotel located on one of the busiest street, there is massive traffic in front of the hotel. •For the Karaoke, i noticed there are few rooms with Left and right speakers connecting in reverse order causing the audio phase cancellation, as such you need to sit on the side room to hear the low frequency and it is better if in future they hotel management can equipped the KTV room with a suitable sub woofer in order to boost the...
Read moreThis was my 2nd trip to this hotel, the first experience was totally awesome. Great service, average but location great (near to jetty) |The thing was the hotel was thickened with smoking was not really recommended for non smokers to stay there. if you don't mind the air, the location is great to walk around.|2nd trip back again recently, the services was really awesome but the smoking issues is still bad as before.|Most unforgettable was the blackouts I had in 1 night was totally irks... Twice was in the spa dont know what to do at first, to note the heated spa was awesome but left guests in the darkness was totally disappointed. We went back to our room and yet the night had at least 2 more black outs but luckily was a short ones. |Other than the blackouts the stay was ok but wont recommend the stay back to the hotel again. |oh another thing, my 1st trip's breakfast was great as it was international breakfast but recently as I was told by the friendly staff that there was a change in the chef that changed the menu as well. Not that the local food no good but to me at least the breakfast is a usual international breakfast would be a great way to...
Read moreGreat location for ease of walking to the port and around the main streets of Balai.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and hot water in the shower however not sound proof at all. There was quite a bit of noise disturbance in the early morning and up until around 1am from other guests.
It seems to be a gathering spot for groups of men on holiday from Singapore. They aren’t disruptive or impactful other than the loud music. I’d also question what the large groups are on the tiny island for so keep children away from this if you can.
Hotel staff speak little English but enough to check in.
The spa service and area is nice but very chaotic. We booked for an afternoon spa and then went and was told that they’d taken another customer instead so we would need to return 4hrs later. We could have planned something else which was frustrating for us. We also booked the body scrub which was 90mins but was only about 45mins in reality so not great value for that treatment.
Overall, it’s an ok place to stay but don’t expect silence or a fully...
