We just have spent time with Ron and his familly and they are so nice. Ron picked up at the harbour Ketapang and organised everything for us to climb on the famous Ijen volcano. Night, every meal, driver, and equipment (mask) for the ascension. His little brother Albi guided us on the volcano to see bluefires and the sunrise on the morning. It was amazing to share this moment with him because he is also minor and he speaks well english. So he explained to us many things about his work and the volcano. He knows the safe way to access to the bluefires and also good spots to take pictures. It was an amazing experience about the volcano and natural phenomenom but also an incredible human experience. Read moreWe stayed at the Homestay for a few nights. Overall it was ok but we were expecting greta things from the reviews we’d read.
The room was comfortable enough and clean but in a slightly run down area, someone tried to access our room while we were asleep (it woke us up when they tried the door). The local restaurant and shops were also readily trying to scan us out of money although this isn’t the fault of the homestay. The WiFi was broken but the driver did offer to let us use his at his house
The lift from town was ok, provided by the homestay’s driver who looked after us, but be sure to negotiate price in writing on WhatsApp beforehand.
