After deciding to go to Karimunjawa we were looking at various options on stay and was always looking for one close to harbour and down town. But were did not feel comfortable about them even from photographs and Casa Velion definitely looked nice but the distance was our concern. Finally we decided on it. ||||We had not much clue about the island and distances on arrival at Harbour Deigo, the Romanian owner offered to pick us and there was another two more arriving by the same Ferry.||||The moment we entered the compound we knew we made the right decision as the hosts both Diego and his Indonesian wife Hellena made us feel at home. Though they had two wheelers available for rent (without it is impossible to explore the island) we were told the fuel was not available on the island! ||||But by the evening while we were dining a the down town square Diego came in a car with another boy to deliver us the scooter! He is such a caring host.||||We had three nights of enjoyable stay on the rather out of the world Island. The cottages were well built with excellent landscaping and a spacious restaurant area where they served a very nice breakfast every morning. ||||They has even unlimited supply of Coffee, Tea and water for the guests at the restaurant.||||I have only good things to tell about Casa Velion and would call it the best place to stay in Karimunjawa. No wake ups in the night due to minarets.|Motorcycles can be rent directly by the owners.||According our experience we found it somewhat business oriented above hospitality. Many rules and regulations (2 pages with all kind of rules and penalties when you do not respect their policies), and for every aspect additional charges: f.e it’s not allowed to take towels to the beach (ok) but rent beach towels cost 25000 / day. An extra bed (already available in the room, costed 200.000 Rup/day even when it was not a third person.||Owners are kind and helpful, location is perfect, but good to be aware of this.||Island is...
Read moreLoved this place! The room, bathroom, beds and linen are all clean and comfy. Each room (spacious individual bungalow) has porch from which you can enjoy the clean fresh morning air (or night breeze) with the mountain viewin background. Its all very green. Breakfast is great, with homemade bread (fresh from the oven!) or Indonesian style breakfast. Owner is Indonesian - European couple, so whether you speak Indonesian or English, there wont be any communication problem, they are very friendly and helpful. Location is slightly far from Center, but you (and your lungs) will appreciate the cool clean air. Afterall no such thing as 'trafficjam' in this...
