Spotted the restourant whilst driving from beach to beach in the area. When we stopped to park the "security" man informed us that the restourant had a pool we could use for free if we paid for a meal. Fantastic!
We sat and had a meal, but our waiter was incredibly rude as he took our order. My friends bolognais was made with sweet and sour sauce and tasted horrific. And for the price of my fish fingers and chips the portion size was tiny, but we thought we'd let it slip, its a lovely view and we can go for a swim afterwards.
We swam in the pool for about 5 minutes, then decided to pay and leave.
When we got our bill with the 20% government tax (the highest tax we've ever paid in a restourant) they had also added 150,000 EACH because we both swam in the pool!
We were mortified. We told the cashier we were told it was free by the security man, he then brought the rude waiter over who argued with us, brought a different security man down and tried to get us to recognise him as the man who'd told us the pool was free, we couldnt remember his face. They caused a scene in front of all the other customers, it was so unprofessional and embarassing (for them).
They then pointed out a measily sign made out of cardboard that apparently states the prices of the pool, but its written in indonesian!
Unbelievable service, shockingly rude staff, we were lied to just to get lured in. And then massivly over-charged. We refused to pay for the pool, and just paid for the food. But it was so bad I urge anyone not to bother going here. Dont entertain them, it sticks out as the worst place we've been...

Unsure why there are so many bad reviews about this place! A group of us stayed here a month ago and we had a very pleasant stay! We were the only ones there because I believe people seem to be avoiding it due to trip advisor reviews! However, rooms were very comfortable, hot water in the shower, towels provided. The staff were very helpful and assisted you whenever you needed! Breakfast was punctual and delicious. The pool is not dirty and the view is out of this world!!! It’s a very peaceful escape if you’re looking to be out of the noisy bustle of kuta! Selong balanak is a 5 minute scooter ride which is ideal seeing as most beaches are 30 minutes away from kuta. The only downside is that they are in the process of building a path from the bungalows to the main bit so you have to walk up a hill. BUT the staff are more than happy to drive you up if you’re not feeling the challenge of the climb! They also have a karaoke set and being the only ones in artati, we had a great time dancing! Having read lots of negative reviews of Artati, I was amazed by the place. It is wonderful. The owner has certainly learned from the comments people had left before and fixed the problems. ||||We stayed in a bungalow number 2 above the pool area and had a breathtaking view of green hills and a bit of sea straight from the bed. ||||In the bungalow, there is hot water, clean and spacious bathroom, big comfy bed, WIFI, TV, AC, minibar, and outside a terrace with chairs. The staff changed the towels and bedsheet every day.||||Not only the view is amazing, but also the staff was the nicest I have ever met. I mean they were genuinely friendly, not faking it. We felt like home but were treated like VIP.||||Artati is nicely located with a short scooter ride from Selon Belanak beach.
