I just came back and upgraded my review from 2 to 3 stars, based on the very good response from the management to my original review. I really do hope they do say what they said and upgrade their eco credibility. Aside from that my review stands.... The place is very very basic. Basic bamboo bungalows, with just enough facilities to tick the boxes but none of it very good. Low pressure, luke warm, water, and no air con, even though i deliberately paid extra for the room with AC. Jus far enough away from everything to be inconvenient, but not far enough to feel remote and isolated. There is no beach to speak of just an ugly concrete seawall structure with ugly black beach to either side. The breakfast was mediocre at best. Eggs on white bread or a thick floury pancake with fake honey. The coffee was weak drip and a small small juice. The place felt like a cash cow ripping off tourists. Maybe the price was higher because it's the high season and i booked late. But that's no excuse for ripping people off. On the bright side the staff were extremely friendly, the rooms were clean and the bed comfortable enough. However i can honestly say it was the worst value for money that I've experienced in 20 yrs in Indonesia... definetly not the worst place, but absolutely the worst value for money.
Ps just because you build something out of bamboo and use a cotton mosquito net, doesn't make you 'eco'! We expect more and...
Read moreThe resort itself is beautifully maintained – the gardens, flowers and plants are stunning, and the surrounding nature is wonderful. We also booked a boat tour for snorkeling, which was very well organized and definitely a highlight of our stay. The staff was always very friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated their effort. Unfortunately, some of the overall conditions made the experience less enjoyable:
We had booked a room for 5 people, but since there was no such option available, an extra bed was added. This was due to a mistake from the boss, which was not communicated to the staff. The staff reacted kindly and tried their best, but overall it was still inconvenient.
At dinner, we waited for more than 1.5 hours for our food.
The included breakfast was very small with hardly any choice. (See attachement)
There were ants in the bed, which was unpleasant.
The pool was closed for several days and not clean.
The massage we booked lacked relaxation and discretion – the masseuse was even on her phone during the treatment.
Important to know: card payment is not possible, so you need to bring enough cash.
Conclusion: The location, nature, and outdoor areas are beautiful, and the boat trip was a great experience. The staff was very kind and helpful, but due to organizational issues and service problems, the stay felt mixed. With some improvements, this place could become...
Read moreSo my girlfriend and I went on the Rinjani mountain. A four day hike that really brought us to our limits. We were physically done, we just wanted to get back to Bali and relax forever. But we still needed a place to stay to get our boat the next day. ||On the way to the harbor town Bengsal, we stumbled upon the Rinjani Beach Eco. Fitting with the name, close to the harbor and with nice pictures we decided to book one night to go on the next morning. ||But what can I say...|This is one of the nicest places I have been in so far. Not only because it is just a nice and small little Resort with about 6 or 7 Bamboo bungalows directly at the beach, but especially everybody who worked the or managed the place was extremely nice and friendly. It felt so right, that we stayed another night and postponed our boat ride. And on top Jerry, the manager if the resort, helped us with every little step for that. Talked to the boat company, Organized a ride for us and even gave me a scooter ride to the ATM and the pharmacy, because I needed some painkillers after the long Rinjani hike. ||So to make it short...|If you go there, you will feel like family, and you will think that you arrived in paradise. ||Hopefully I will be back in the region, because I would go stay there...
