The Lombok Lodge — Hotel in Lombok

This hotel is simply a must.

To put this into context, I’ve stayed in excellent hotels such as The Shard in London, Shangri La in Singapore and Sezz in St Tropez and it was mixing it with the best, if not top of that pile.

It has also made me re-evaluate TripAdvisor reviews for 5 star hotels i stayed at on this Bali trip, downgrading some official 5 stars to 4 stars base on how high the bar was raised.

The reason for my glowing review. The room was spacious, you could argue there were a few modern gizmos in the room that the Shangri La, Shard and Sezz had that the Lodge was missing, but where the Lodge trumps the other restaurants was the following for me.

It was small and personal. only 9 rooms within the complex (max 22 guests) and ample amounts of staff. the whole complex was so spacious and because of the size and lack of physical guests....tranquil.

The Shangri La on the rooftop pool is frankly a tourist trap. The Sezz, not enough space around its only pool to cater for all its guests. The Lombok Lodge has everything cover in that respect.

The staff are overly attentive. it is as if they get offended if you even think about pouring your own wine or moving your own sunbed (at points i felt embarrassed). The staff have time to get to know you as the ratio is weighted correctly.

Food...I had 3-4 course each breakfast. Lunch was lovely and varied. there was free afternoon tea served between 4-5pm each day with delicious biscuits. (this was also free if you requested it when watching the sunrise - strongly recommended to do).

Dinner was 5 course each night, each of excellent quality. the chefs remembered that my wife did not like fish or shell food and amended the menu accordingly.

The pièce de résistance was having dinner on the private Jetty (featured in Elle magazine i believe) and was the perfect setting for celebrating our honeymoon, or indeed perfect for a proposal if that were the case.

Just think of any excellent 5 star hotel you've been too, expand the space of the hotel, reduce the number of guests to a handful, increase the ratio of staff per guest and you get what i am trying to paint, it was just pure tranquillity and service...

I had the pleasure of staying at The Lombok Lodge with my wife for her birthday, and it was one of the best experiences we ever had. The Lombok Lodge is a hidden gem that offers an exclusive, tailor-made, and unforgettable stay.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest staff ever, who welcomed us with fresh towels, a refreshing juice, and a flower necklace. The staff were always smiling and attentive, and you could feel that they were happy to work there. The manager Hamdi was also very welcoming and caring, and made sure that we had everything we needed. The lodge itself is nestled between palm trees, beachfront, and facing the ocean. The view is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is serene and calm. Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with a comfortable bed and a luxurious bathroom. We also had a private terrace where we could relax and enjoy the ocean scenery.

The food was amazing, with a variety of dishes to suit every taste. We especially loved the breakfast, which was delicious and plentiful. The dinner was also a highlight, as they had set up a table in their beautiful garden facing the ocean, with a band of three lovely musicians playing live music. The food was exquisite, and the service was impeccable. Without us telling them (about my wife birthday), they brought a birthday cake at the end of our dinner this evening, with fireworks and the whole staff singing happy birthday. It was such a touching and memorable gesture, and my wife was overjoyed. The next morning, they also made a surprise in our room for her birthday, with balloons, flowers, and a huge carved wooden number. We were so impressed and grateful for their kindness and thoughtfulness.

We live in Indonesia and have been running a business here for many years, which makes us appreciate even more the quality of the service and the hospitality that The Lombok Lodge offers. This is a place that truly cares about its guests, and goes above and beyond to make them happy. This was our second visit to the Lombok Lodge in less than 12 months so saying that we loved our stay here is an understatement. The team of friendly, professional and obliging staff certainly made our visit even better than the last. A little piece of paradise that is tucked away in the north west of Lombok has incredible views both inside and outside. We had enjoyed a "Time Together" package on our last visit which I will always highly recommend. There are many other packages available and one can certainly curate whatever your heart desires. On our trip this time we really just wanted time to stand still, slowly soaking in our 3 gorgeous days, making the most of the extensive yet and delicious breakfast and lunch menus. Let's not forget Chef Jiwa's afternoon teas which is a firm favourite! The Lombok Lodge has a beautiful wellness center with lovely therapists who are ready to spoil you with a treatment of your choice. Being avid swimmers we enjoyed the amenities of their '25m' swimming pool where swimming laps can easily and enjoyably be done when alone. We also found swimming and snorkeling in the bay out front really great as the reef was teaming with corals and fish. Granted it may be clearer on the Gili Islands (which is a must) but this was pretty good for us. Be sure to wear a float so that little fishing boats can see you on the water. As I'm writing this post I'm planning our third visit back. I can't begin to describe the quality and the attention to detail that The Lombok Lodge has in all departments. After a delicious morning Nespresso, my favourite part of the day is breakfast, chatting to the staff and practicing very basic Indonesian Bahasa. I can't begin to name each one of the amazing team as I don't want to leave anyone out but they are very accommodating and obliging of your needs, no matter what.
