Checked in late at 9pm. We booked family room on the same day. Was offered on the ground floor or second floor, was advised that ground floor might be a bit noise with cars passing by. Because we will be out in the morning so we chose the ground floor for easy access.||Room was big with 2 king beds. Toilet is small combined between wastafel, toilet and shower. Towels were tired and yellowish. Bedsheets was smelled of strong laundry perfume mixed with musty smell. Hair dry will be provided if asked.||A lot of drivers seating and smoking at our front terace till very late at night and in the morning, making it inconvenient to open our windows and doors. In the morning, a lot of cars ignited sound so a bit of a disturb. Better to choose family room upstairs.|Breakfast was told would be served at 7am but it wasn't ready even at 7.30am while we wanted to go to tumpak sewu waterfall as early as possible. Only 3 choices of breakfast: fried rice, chicken soup and toast with an egg.||Check out was at 12pm, we asked for a bit of extension and they could only extend half an hour, else it would be charged rp100,000 per hour. After we complaint for a late bfast, we only can have late check out at 1pm. We finished our tumpak sewu trip at 12.45pm, and only 1 person can take a shower before we checked out. It is how they got extra money from robbing the customer the extended hour.||It was a dissatisfying experience. The family room came not cheap at...

I was very surprised by the initial impression the staff gave. Instead of greeting us with "good evening," the man who looked after me asked me to park my motorbike next door, and he did so twice. He even spoke in Bahasa Jawa, assuming I understood it. Come on, I'm still wearing my raincoat, and we still need to unpack all of our stuff. I saw no sign where do I have to park my motorbike too.
"I see a homestay, but it's not homey. I see the hospitality industry, but no hospitality."
I think it is important for the management to train their staff in the core principles of the hospitality industry.
Overall, I'd like to summarize my stay experience at Tumpak Sewu Homestay.
Atmosphere: 7/10 Cleanliness: 9/10 Value: 7/10 Staff: 1/10 Amenities: 5/10 Rooms: 7/10 Food: 8/10
Would I recommend this homestay to my colleagues? Definitely not, unless you train...
