It's in a largely agricultural part of Munduk. It's surrounded by small farms and all the associated smells and noises of a farm. For example I smelled what seemed like a strong manure odour near my villa when I arrived. None of the staff acknowledged it when I brought it to their attention. There was loud bleating sheep in the property next door and crowing roosters from across the road. There was also loud motorcycle exhaust noise from local villagers using the adjacent road.
Furthermore, there a small temple and woodwork shed nearby, BOTH of which blasted very loud music in the morning and afternoon. I actually walked to those properties and saw that huge speakers they were using.
The included breakfast is very basic and I found only barely edible. I'd happily have paid for a better breakfast.
Lastly, one staff member, who I'm told is the owner's younger son was actually quite confrontational and hostile on WhatsApp.
All in all I cannot agree with all the guests who rave about how fantastic this accommodation is. It does not deserve a perfect 5 stars which is why I've left this review. It's definitely not as peaceful as I would have liked.
But for the most part, the family that own and run it are very sweet (with the exception of one) and the villas themselves are very nice and great value for money. Oh yes one last thing, DO NOT FLUSH YOUR TOILET PAPER. If you do you will be severely...
Read moreFirst of all I cannot imagine how most people could rate this accomodation for 5-star. The pros: The room looked nice. Staff were kind. The cons: We founded cockroches in the room many times. Most of the guest mentioned in their reviews that this accomodotion was so quiet is calm. The truth is that there are min. 2 direct neighbors who keep listening loud misic all day, what it means between 6am till 22pm, so you can keep hearing sometimes baggy music sometimes balinese karaoke during your staying. Those are so annoying. Right next to the accomodation goats are kept, so during daytime you can hear them or even smell them. When we told the owner that this noise bothered us, he told us he could not do anything, because they respected the neighbors. So we just left the accomodation acter 2 nights. So I do not have any idea why people rate this place for 5-star, the real truth is what we experencied. If you want to stay in calm and quiet just stay away from this place. I gave 2 star because 1-star means for me when I arrive I turn out from the accomodation in one minute. Because we stayed 2 nights (after the first night we wantex to give one chance....but in vain) we...
Read moreThere is so much to like here at Manigelang Villa. Starts with an amazing host in Wayan and Willem whom together has curated this wonderful place on a beautiful mountain peak overlooking West Java and the Java sea. Stayed in their comfortable villa with beautiful picturesque surroundings with nature abundance. We enjoyed the cool fresh temperatures (donât forget to bring a cardigan or jumper). A great get away from the usual hot humid tropical Bali weather. A deserved time away from the busy city for quiet, peacefulness and for healthy living, served with fresh produce and tasteful vegetarian meals.
Oh yes not forgetting Rio (who is an ardent Chelsea fan). Without him will not be safely driven around. Took us to a wonderful Mountain View restaurant (there are many around the area) and a cute mountain cafe. Visited Ulu Danu Beratan Temple on the lake (Danau Buyan). Next time will track to the waterfalls.
We had such a wonderful stay and will...
